Steroid-alternative supplements

This was emailed to me yesterday- and it's a pretty good question: "The use of tribulus and avena sativa is quite common during a PCT for its assistance in restarting natural test. production after AAS or PH cycles, but is it effective at raising test. levels even when off cycle? Some say that it's completely useless off cycle, but others say that it's helpful for maintaining higher test levels, especially for those with naturally lower test levels. What is your opinion on tribulus and avena sativa?"

Just do steroids. That's my opinion on all steroid-alternatives. Don't do them if you want to remain natural. But if you want to remain natural, you can't do fake steroid supplements anyway. I don't feel I even need to address anything biochemically related to the question asked because the whole concept of taking steroid-alternatives is so overwhelmingly foolish in the first place.

Lets use a little philosophy here: once upon a time, all illegal steroids were legal. Deca, para, testosterone, GH and so on. They were all completely legal just like tribulus is today. Progressively, they became banned based on effectiveness and sometimes affiliated side-effects. As a general rule, if a steroid was really effective, it became illegal. Likewise, steroids could become illegal on grounds of side effects as well, but this was really only in theory. Let's not kid ourselves- nobody was actually conducting valid research, where people were being forced to take steroids under specific constraints, documenting side effects over long enough periods to extract any conclusive, non-biased data. This would be illegal, inhumane, un-publishable, and so on. So without completely abandoning reality, the obvious reason why steroids became, and continue to become illegal is effectiveness (with the assumption of associated side effects).

Look at the andro line for a good example. Androstenedione, 5-androsteinediol, norandrostenedione, etc. A few years ago, these were the most popular "steroid alternative supplements." They were totally legal, their use considered ethical, and at first, not even banned in sports. Then after a short while, they became regarded as an illegal steroid. And so today, everyone who was doing the "totally legal and natural steroid alternative" back when it was legal and fine (which was like a million people) are in the same class as those who just did d-bol or deca. Does that make sense? Andros are illegal steroids now. It doesn't matter if you did them while they were legal, by today's standards, you took illegal steroids.

Arnold, and the rest of the bodybuilders in the 70's and 80's did deca, d-bol and a slew of real potent steroids. You taking androstenedione a couple years ago is no different than you taking d-bol in the early 80's, other than the fact that you wouldn't get nearly as good of results with the andros. Back in Arnold's day, all his steroids were totally legal too. You could buy it just like you can buy tribulus today. If you take something while it's legal, and then it becomes an illegal steroid later, your timing doesn't really matter- you're still in the exact same class of people who just did illegal steroids in the first place. The only reason andro was legal when it first came out is credit to politics. An old legislation took the power away from the FDA to regulate the little pills if they come onto the market as a "supplement." It has nothing to do with the actual substance you're taking. The only difference between taking steroids that are already illegal, and those that will soon become illegal, is the fact that you taking deca will give you 80 times the results of you doing andro. So if you took andro, you just look corny and unintelligent.

So lets play this out in today's market. Tribulus costs money. If you buy it, one of two things will happen. A) it will work. B) it won't work.

We'll address A first. If tribulus works, it will without question become illegal, and then in a couple years time, you will have done illegal steroids.

And then B. If it doesn't work, it's a waste of your money.

So I assume you understand that there's no point whatsoever in taking "natural steroid alternatives." You either full on waste your money entirely with pills that do nothing at all, or you take something that works okay but will eventually be in the same class as the other steroids that cost the same but work way way way better. It's a complete waste of your money regardless of how you look at it.

It comes down to this: if you want to remain natural, take creatine and eat tons of calories. If you want to do anything more than that, do illegal steroids that work like crazy. Anything else is a complete waste of your money- and makes you look really corny.

Question: I don't really have a way to buy steroids and (legally) wouldn't feel right doing it anyway. I still want to do something, even if it's not as potent. Out of everything out there, which one would you suggest?

Answer: I suggest you reread my article. And then out of my amazing generosity and undying courtesy, I'll explain further: being "not as potent" isn't by a small margin. Research exists on all of these supplements showing just how much they increase your anabolic hormones. Granted it's bad, industry funded research, but it still tells you the truth if you understand physiology. The base hormone levels are tested at rest. The supplement-induced hormone levels are tested during and following resistance training. This workout they go through increases the exact same hormone levels by measures of about 30%. So when you see that the supplement increased anabolic hormone levels by 30%, that means nothing. It means the supplement is completely null. It's beyond worthless. Just do steroids.
