isokinetic muscle activation

Isokinetic protocols applies apply the dynamic concepts of isotonic training, employing the concentric and eccentric phases, but also use a time component, in that the repetitions are completed with at rate-limiting pace defined by the equipment. As such, the force generated and associated movement are in no way correlated. Due to technological necessities, isokinetic was not available until 1970 and is not as common or considered to be as fundamental as either isotonic or isometric (Brown & Whitehurst, 2003).
