First of all, I'm new to being online. As of Sept. 2000 I've been online about 11 months. However, I'm not new to tutoring math, chemistry, geometry, & calculus. I've been tutoring since highschool and I worked for the local community college for about 2 & 1/2 years. The human click below lets me know when people enter this page and I'll be happy to any answer questions you have. I'm charging $3.00 an hour for online tutoring or I will trade for curriculum for my kids. I except paypal from paypal.com
Current curriculum needs right now are: an online creative writing course for my 2 older children, how to do timeline notebooks and some sort of book on how to teach history using the timeline notebooks.
Click on this for an example of how I work with students and for any of your lesson plan needs.

Helpful Math tips
Right now I have one algebra student and a basic math student so these tips are geared for them. I'll add more as I have time and as my students need it.
Know your multiplication facts to 12 and work at being able to answer them fast. (this is biggest stumbling block to higher math learn them )
One way to help you learn them is to for the student to make their own multiplication charts.
Another is to make your own flash cards or buy the flash action software. (which I have used and is very good.)
Some people use the songs to learn them ,also.
Divisibility Rules ( I found these are really helpful as I don't use calculators much when working algebra)
A number is divisible by 2 if it is an even number. ( if it ends in 0,2,4,6,8)
A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3.
Example: 282 would be 2+8+2= 12 so 282 divided by 3 = 94
A number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits are both zeros or if they are divisible by 4.
Example: 2000 divided by 4 =500 , 3948 divided by 4 = 987
A number is ivisible by 5 if the ones' digit is 0 or 5.
A number is divisible by 6 if it is even and divisible by 3.
Example : 36 is even and 3+6=9 so it is divisible by 3 and 6.
A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 9.
Example: 243 would be 2+4+3= 9 so 243 divided by 9 = 27
A number is divisible by 10 if the ones' digit is 0.
Fractions
In Mississippi jargon I call the numerator or top number of the fraction "TOP". This number tells how many parts are used.
I call the denominator or the bottom number of the fraction "BOTTOM". This number tells how many parts there are all together.
Something about fractions most people tend to forget is that the fraction bar is a division symbol.
In other words. In the fraction :
4

20
20 divided by 4 = 5, and 4 divided by 4 = 1
making this fraction reduce to 1/5.
Whatever you do to the top of the fraction you MUST do the same thing to the bottom.
