Mark entered the music scene in January of 1997 with the debut of his song "Circle of Rain", which was followed by the release of his independent album "None of Us Can Fly" in August of 1997. The album got radio play on Sun FM (Grande Prairie) and CJAY FM (Calgary), while Mark has continued to rise in the alternative rock scene with the release of his latest album "Star Flake".
This singer, songwriter, producer has gained inspiration from such bands as Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins. He has been songwriting since his early teens and performing since he got his guitar. Throughout his four years at college he developed his solo career through countless shows in the Grande Prairie area.
He graduated from the Grande Prairie Regional College in April of 1999 with a diploma in the Interactive Digital Design Program, majoring in Music. He studied guitar with Scott Kerr, ear training with John Murray, music theory with Carmen Gorgichuk, music technology and creative thinking with Rolf Boon, arranging and intro to music with Paul Rathke, and history of American popular music with Geoff Whittall. He continues to develop himself as both an artist and a producer.
Up to date, he has produced 4 of his own albums and numerous unreleased songs. He has also produced a demo tape for an Anglican Church choir, and mastered a CD for the GPRC Jazz & Wind Ensemble. He was co-manager of Big Ear Productions, a digital recording house, in Grande Prairie for the summer of 1998. Throughout the summer he co-produced various local bands and groups such as "Alive in Faith" and "Soma Libra". He continues to work on his own material and develop his writing skills for the release of his next album.
