Fran Drescher was born on September 30 and grew up in Flushing, Queens, New York. She attended Hillcrest High School, and after graduating, studied for a year at Queen's College.Fran had known since she was young that she wanted to be an actor, and although she had studied drama in school, her first big break and subsequent recognition within the acting world was in her first feature film role, the infamous "Saturday Night Fever" . Her other movies included "Hollywood Knights", "Gorp", "It had to be you", "Ragtime", and "Serious Money". The low-budget film 'This Is Spinal Tap' made her become even more highly recognised - the movie went on to become a cult classic. She also starred in "American Hot Wax" with Jay Leno, and later on was featured in the relatively forgotten movie "Cadillac Man" - her first movie with Robin Williams.Fran is not only an accomplished actress, but is also credited with being a producer, writer, and co-creator of The Nanny. To add to this, she also is a partner in a business that produces Loaf'n'Kisses Gourmet Croutons.She has recently begun to delve into movies, firstly in Jack, in which she again paired up with Robin Williams, and then in 'Beautician and the Beast', in which she not only starred, but co-developed. To add to this, her biography entitled 'Enter Whining' was widely renowned and even made the New York Times Bestseller list!For those who think that she has accomplished enough, she isn't stopping there. Two more movie projects are in the works, one entitled 'The Ump' , and the other, 'Schlepped Away'.Of course, Fran's other projects will not drive her away from The Nanny, which she calls her 'Starship Galactica' - something that will always be her primary concern. The Season 4 finale - and the 100th episode of The Nanny - was shown recently. Series 5 has been given the go-ahead and filming will resume in September...with Fran taking on the many responsibilities she performs and delivers so well.
