Latest News
Since I don't actually update anything on this site much, I've made an effort to create a page with all the latest goss and info ('cos apparently some people actually care!).
So here's the latest news for June 2003.
* I've been at the Melbourne for over 4 months now,a dn really starting to settle in. Unfortunately that means that I'll be moving on to another ward in another 2 months, but I s'pose that's all part of the program and something I'll have to deal with! There are great days and there are real shithouse ones... But that's like any job I guess...
* One of the things I certainly can't complain about is the amount of weekends I have off!! I've been able to go back to Geelong HEAPS since I've started at RMH, which is really nice!! When I was at uni and working it was pretty rare for me to go back that often...
* I've been pretty crook over the last few weeks with tonsilitis, asthma, sinusitis and 'flu bugs (NO, it wasn't SARS guys!), so thanks to everyone who sent me get well wishes!
* WELL... As for my lovelife... Hmmmm... It hasn't been seen in quite some time!! If you've seen it, let me know! I'm not actually really looking for anything with anyone at the moment, I'm too tired!!
* My lovelife isn't totally devoid of action... There have been some interesting and amusing incidents in recent times... One of which involved a new guy I'd met asking an ex of mine "How do you know Mel?"... Well.... what do you say to that????... And as a result of the ensuing conversation between the two of them, neither of them were talking to me for a while!!! *rotfl* Since then, though there was a drunken thing with that ex, who seems keen for a repeat performance, but I don't think I'm gonna go there again... Well, not unless I've had a few bevos first!! I also managed to pash the bloke who had spoken to my ex, so I guess you could say that things were sorted out with both of them. There was another incident following a HUGE night out with my aunt and her highschool friends.... But that's a story best left untold!!! And then there's the psycho jockey!!!......
* I MISS MANDA!!!!!!!! Amanda flew out for her 12 month (or thereabouts) trip o/s last week and I miss her HEAPS!!!!! It was great to spend heaps of time together before she left- we had some top nights out and some awesome days just hanging around. But I miss her!!!!!!!! Now I have to carry the torch for the BPAA group!!!!!
* Coming events for this month include Marnie's 21st (which should be a top night!), a Dudas night out, educating my little cousins on the wonders of Star Wars, and some other stuff that I can't think of right now!!! I also need to get into training for the 6 pints in 30 minutes challenge set by Will from work..
My Top 10 Favourite Songs of the Month.. (although this DOESN'T mean that the songs are RECENT)..
- 1) What else would be top of the list but the song I've had stuck in my head for the past few weeks (courtesy of Jess from work) and have pestered djs to play (with only moderate success)- Rump Shaker by Wreckx -N-Effect: YEAH YEAH!!
- 2) Number 2 is yet another song that Manda has the lyrics mixed up (gee, there's a shock!!).. It's a TOP song: The Warrior by Scandal featuring Pattie Smyth!!
- 3) At number three, a song that celebrates the voluptuous arse- Baby Got Back, by Sir Mix-a-Lot.. a GUN song!!!
- 4) Number 4 is a former number 1 on this chart- Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice!!! Word to your mother!!! Hey Manda- what's he driving???? *lol*
- 5) This has to be none other than the song that changed the way I viewed a wanker I lived a college with.. He knew all the words when it came on at someone's bash.. It's not his style at all and was rather amusing to see him dancing and singing (rather drunkenly).. What was the point??.. Oh yeah! The song: Shoop by Salt N Pepa!! ..
- 6) I'm looking back at the list so far, and they're all pretty dodgy songs, hey?.. Well, I'd hate to turn the tide, the next one's another former number one on my list: Gloria, by Laura Branigan!!
- 7) A song that not too many people my age are into (even dodgy retro lovers!!) would be Hold The Line by Toto!! I LOVE that song!!
- 8) You can't go past a bit of Dragon for a drunken sing-along.. I couldn't decide between Rain and April Sun In Cuba, so they're both at number 8..
- 9) Number 9 is a song I DETESTED at the time it was released due to the fact that I ABHORRED the group.. As I've grown older though, the song has grown on me (kinda like mould): You Got It (The Right Stuff), by New Kids On The Block (or NKOTB as everyone but me had written on their pencil cases)..
- 10) This one takes me back to Year 8 when someone (Sarah?? Siobhan?? I can't remember) wrote in big letters on the blackboard 'Snow is dead'- yep, Informer by Snow!. I've endeavoured to learn all the words to this one, but considering you can't understand a word he says, it's a bit difficult!!
Top 3 Sayings For the Month
- My fave saying that I'm trying to get to catch on would have to be number one- 'No drama, roast-a-rama'... It caught on there for a while... People at work and uni were using it... but since I'm no longer at work or at uni, I imagine it'll die down..
- Number 2, is one that I seem to be trotting out heaps at the moment 'It's all over'.. This is a great one to use when the proverbial hits the fan..
- This saying at number 3 isn't actually one of my originals, but it has at least been borrowed from a top movie!! The saying? 'Superb', as used numerous times by Lucas in Empire Records.. (I had to have ONE positive saying!!)
Dodgy Movies of the Moment!!!
- 1). Well, certainly a dodgy choice for number one, none other than Weekend at Bernie's 2!!!... Yep, the sequel is higher up on the scale of fave dodgy movies than the first one.. But ONLY because of Bernie's risen from the dead conga line dancing... Amanda and I have done our best to recreate the magic in pubs around Melbourne, but as yet, the only response has been from our mates... The other reason??? How do you beat a movie where a guy gets whacked in the nuts a lot??? Did you catch it on tv the other week???
- 2). Son In Law... featuring the acting talents of Pauly Shore... Upon revisiting this one, I discovered a lot of sly sexual references that I'd obviously missed as a sweet and innocent young 13 year old.... They were such corkers that there was plenty of rewinding just to hear them again!!
- 3). Hmmmm... a more recent dodgy great being, A Night At The Roxbury... I think my love of this movies springs from the fact that I saw it with a heap of people from college when we hired a cinema and got to drink ourselves stupid there... More fabulous dance moves to emulate... and the poignant music at the most ridiculous times makes it a crack up..
- 4). Number four would have to be Weekend At Bernie's, (the original).. The reason it's further down the list??? Less nut whacking... and no dead dancing... although Bernie does get some action, which is rather amusing!!
- 5). Finally, I couldn't go past Airheads... A very funny movie... and after I was told about the mumbled line from Suzzi (with 2 zs) 'all those blow jobs for nothing', the amusement was even greater!!!...
I KNOW they're dodgy!!! That's the POINT!!!! I DO like serious films... and more contemporary music... But where's the fun and interest in saying that I like what everyone else likes????
