Hattiesburg Is Bulldog Country

Well, you might be asking yourself, "How did someone who grew up in Hattiesburg come to be such a cowbell carrying Mississippi State Bulldog fan", well that's a good question. Since no one in my family has ever attended MSU, (mom and grandma attended USM), it could seem strange to some people that I bleed maroon and white. The best I can remember, being introduced to them dawgs came from a cousin who was a MSU fan. I was about 6-7 years old and not having any brothers or sisters, I looked up to my cousin--so I guess you could say it all started from there. I do know however that by the time John Bond was running the option to perfection, around 1980 I believe, I was hooked for life. I can remember being in the 5th grade and trying to convert USM fans into Dawgs. To tell the truth, I'd say that 90% of all my friends who also grew up in Hattiesburg are loyal fans of the SEC. USM just doesnt offer the competion and excitement that a true college football fan needs. Over the years I've attended many MSU events in football, basketball, and baseball. There is just something about that maroon and white. I hope this has enlightened you a little about my journey into the SEC and the Mississippi State Bulldogs fan club.
