My summary..
Drew Blyth Barrymore was a born star. She started her career very young, around the age of 1 appearing in commercials. She had a real knack for acting; "the acting bug" some might call it.
At the age of 6 she became the most loved child star since Shirley Temple for her role in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. From there she went on
to do movies like Firestarter and Cat's Eye, both Stephen King stories. Her mother was an avid club hopper and with the lack of a father or babysitter, took Drew along for the ride.
Some might think it was a little odd, having an 8 year old dancing around the club, but for Drew it was the highlight of the week. She became addicted to the night life and became angry when her mother
refused to go out with her. By the age of 9 she had tasted alcohol and marijuana and by 13 she had tried cocaine. She became out of control and went on a wild, cross-usa trip with a friend and her mother's credit card.
Upon her arrival back home she was admitted to ASAP Family Treatment Center. Drew stayed there and tried to get rid of her addictions but once, on a movie shoot, screwed up and ended up back in the center.
When she finally got out for the last time, still attending therapy with her mother to try and salvage what might have been left of their relationship, the press got a hold of her story. Reporters chased her, waited outside
her home, so she decided to just get it all over with and do a full-length interview with People Magazine. She would say her story once, and that would be the end of that. She could move on with her life. And she did. Her movie career seemed
to be almost non-existent for a while, but then she was cast in a lot of 'teen-angst' roles; Mad Love, The Amy Fisher Story, Poison Ivy and Bad Girls. From there she went on to do other movies such as The Wedding Singer/Home Fries/Ever After: A Cinderella Story
and is once again, one of the most loved stars of all time.
