Blending Of Oils



In this page I've included a blending chart and a cross-reference chart for therapeutic uses of oils so that you will be able to easily substitute one oil for another if you don't like the smell of a particular oil in a recipe.

Blending Oils

The following is a list of the most commonly used essential oils with a list of which oils they blend well with. The blending factor is a guide to how many drops to use of each oil, especially handy if you are substituting one oil in a receipe for another that you prefer the smell of. Oils are classified by what is called notes, there being top, middle and base depending on how long their aroma lingers. Top note aromas last a fairly short time, middle note aromas for longer and base note aromas for a couple of hours. If you are making up your own blend for a burner or perfume a loose guide is to choose an oil from each of the 3 notes and blend with 3 drops of the top note oil, 2 drops of the middle and 1 drop of the base. This will tend to increase the longevity of the aroma of the burner.
