Misc USWA Clips + Memphis Music Videos + Lawler Shows
Time: 2hrs 41 mins VQ: EX/VG

Memphis TV 11/86-12/86
Time: 4hrs VQ: VG
-Clips from a match with Tojo/Sato/Goto taking on Jackie Fargo/Jerry Jarrett/Jeff Jarrett
-Postmatch interview from an angry Fargo after losing to Tojo Yamamoto
-Another Jackie Fargo interview days later, from home, saying he will retire if he loses to Tojo
-A hilarious promo from Boy Tony (Tony Falk) showing the "dirty Memphis fans" how to properly shower. Boy Tony is actually in a shower and lathers up, showing the right way to clean yourself. Hilarious!
-Jeff Jarrett music video to "Higher" by Van Halen, I think.
-David Haskins/Pat Tanaka/Tracey Smothers vs Sato/Goto/Ninja w/Yamamoto. Tojo interferes and causes the DQ by caning Tanaka with the kendo stick. Ninja accidentally hits Tojo, allowing Tanaka to get the kendo stick and do some caning of his own, then chase Tojo arond with the cane. Man, Pat Tanaka used to be my favorite wrestler. And, Tojo was the coolest.
-Paul Diamond video interview from home, in bed, still suffering from the effects of having his leg broken by Tojo, Sato, and Goto. Total sympathy interview, talking about how he will have to go home and tell his parents he is a loser!
-Dirty Rhodes & Don Bass vs Excitement Incorporated. Excitement Incorporated may be the stupidest name for a team I have ever heard of.
-Dennis Hall video interview. Who the hell is this guy?? Anyway, Hall introduces a woman named "Dolly Parker" who looks very much like Dolly Parton. Parker calls Hall "Din Din" and keeps taking the mic from him. Somewhat amusing, if only for how bad these two are.
-Eddie Marlin talks about the big "Dream Matches" card coming up. (Quality drops a tad here starting at this point in the tape as far as picture clearness, but still no jumping screen.)
-Randy Hales previews some out of town action, followed by Jonathan Boyd interview.
-Jerry Jarrett video interview (Re: Dream Match)
-Tojo & crew interview. Tojo says he will die before he says the Pledge of Allegiance, which is the stipulation if he loses his dream match with Jerry Jarrett.
-Ron Olson interviews Jeff Jarrett about his dream match. Jeff says Tojo will be in a cage. Jarrett announces Paul Diamond will be his partner. Sato says he thought Diamond was gone, to which Tojo says his (Diamond’s) leg is deteriorating and he’s dying of cancer! For some reason this is just so funny when he says this.
-Interviews with Dirty Rhodes, Eddie Marlin, and Jerry Lawler about what their dream match would be. Lawler announces Big Bubba will be his partner. Lawler says his partnership with Bubba is stricly business.
-Short interviews with Excitement Incorporated, Tracey Smothers, Jerry Lawler, Billy Travis, Dirty Rhodes, and Jonathan Boyd about the Battle Royal
-20 Man Battle Royal for $5000. Comes down to Lawler, Boyd, and Bigfoot. A ref bump (in a battle royal?!?!?) allows Billy Travis to interfere and help Lawler eliminate both heels. Postmatch: Big brawl in the studio with Bigfoot, Boyd, and Dirty Rhodes attacking Lawler and Travis. Dirty Rhodes steals Lawler’s $5000 that he just won.
-
Jeff Jarrrett & Billy Travis & Pat Tanaka & Tracey Smothers vs Animals & Memphis Vice. Memphis Vice & Animals can’t get along, leading to their downfall.
-Jeff Jarrett/Billy Travis/Paul Diamond interview with Lance Russell (Re: Sheepherders)-Jonathan Boyd comes out with Tojo & crew to respond.
-Sato & Goto (w/Tojo) vs Jeff Jarrett & Paul Diamond (International Tag Title Match.) Tojo interferes early, so Jeff gets Billy Travis to be in their corner. Probably the best match on the tape so far. Tojo goes to interfere, but Billy Travis gets Tojo. Sheepherders attack Travis, allowing Tojo to throw salt in Diamond’s eyes and letting Sato & Gato regain their belts. Diamond cuts a fired up promo towards Tojo after the match.
-Rock and Roll RPM’s interview. Here’s a gimmick I had forgotten about. Too bad I had to remember…Anyway, Sato and Goto come out and slap the RPM’s, leading to a big brawl.
-Lance Russell interviews Big Bubba, Goliath, and Downtown Bruno.
-Lance Russell interviews Jerry Lawler & Hillbilly Elmer (aka Plowboy Frazier)
-Dennis Hall & Boy Tony vs Jerry Lawler & Hillbilly Elmer. Okay, maybe I was a tad harsh on Dennis Hall and Dolly Parker earlier….naahhh. But, I must say, seeing Dolly come out in that getup with Hall to the "9 to 5" Dolly Parton song was pretty funny. Boy Tony wrestles in pink tights, which is also funny. After the match, Dolly slaps referee Jerry Calhoun and Lawler. Lawler grabs Dolly but she is able to escape-but just barely.
-
Lance Russell interviews Sheepherders. Eddie Marlin comes out. Boyd accuses Marlin of protecting Jeff Jarrett and allowing Billy Travis and others to get away with anything. Really good interview. Boyd asks Marlin to make the match a loser leaves town for one year to prove he’s not protecting Jeff. Marlin refuses at first, but Jarrett and Travis come out and accept the stipulation. Then, a really funny bit where Boyd lifts Lance Russell’s left hand, all the while shouting for Lance to raise his right hand, and Lance says: "The left one will do!"
-Lance Russell interviews Hillbilly Elmer
-Rock and Roll RPM’s interview, then RPM’s squash match
-Lance Russell interviews Tojo. Tojo gives Lance a few light pokes with the cane when Lance gets smart with him. Tojo brings back the Great Kabuki. Tojo smacks Lance with the cane again at the end of the interview and Lance refuses to talk anymore. Classic!
-
Great Kabuki vs Pat Tanaka. Kabuki spits the mist in Tanaka’s eyes in the end.
-Big Bubba/Downtown Bruno interview. Bubba is wearing a mask. Why you ask? Well, a clip of Lawler vs Bubba Hair vs Hair match is then showed, which Lawler wins. Bubba gets his head shaved.
-Jonathan Boyd comes out alone, as his partner Bigfoot lost the Loser Leaves Town match. Boyd has two men bring out a big box covered by the New Zealand flag. Boyd says he may have underestimated Jeff Jarrett and challenges Jeff to a New Zealand Death Box Match. As Boyd explains it, basically a casket match by today’s standards. Boyd calls Jarrett out to sign the contract. Jarrett comes out and signs for the match. Boyd then reveals that the loser wouldn’t be put in the box alone. Boyd throws open the box and picks up a huge snake and throws it on Jarrett! Jarrett falls back on the desk covered by the snake, kicking and struggling, then escapes and runs off. By this time, Lance and Dave have ran off as well. Boyd then tosses the snake around and over the desk a few times, laughing hysterically as Lance goes crazy. Eddie Marlin comes out and says the match won’t happen, but Boyd says it’s too late as Jeff already signed the contract! Lance tells Jonathan to "get the damn snake outta here!" GREAT GREAT GREAT ANGLE!!!
-Great Kabuki & Tony Burton vs Paul Diamond & Pat Tanaka. Tojo hassles the announcers during the match, which is always fun. Kabuki and Burton hold Diamond for Tojo to tar and feather Diamond at the end. Diamond, covered in the tar and feathers, cuts a promo directed toward Tojo.
-Fabulous Ones music video followed by RPM’s interview ranting and raving about how they haven’t copied anyone with their gimmick. Uhhh, sure. Tracey Smothers comes out to defend the Fabs and gets attacked by the RPM’s.
-Another RPM’s interview (the next week) followed by a different Fabulous Ones music video. Tracey Smothers comes out again and brings out Steve Keirn to brawl with the RPM’s. Keirn cuts a promo about people stealing the Fabs gimmick.
-Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett & Billy Travis vs Boy Tony & Memphis Vice. Turns into a big brawl at the end, where Lawler unmasks Bubba, revealing his shaved head.
-Memphis Vice vs Boy Tony & Tony Burton. Boy Tony throws soap at the fans as he enters. Classic. Big Bubba runs in, followed by Jerry Lawler.
-Jerry Lawler music video "Take my Breath Away."
-Lance Russell interviews Jerry Lawler. Clips of Great Kabuki attacking Paul Diamond and Pat Tanaka are shown as well as clips of Lawler vs Big Bubba, where Great Kabuki gets involved. Lawler does a really good interview about Kabuki.
-Downtown Bruno/Bubba/Goliath interview.
-Lance Russell is talking at the set when Jonathan Boyd runs out with the snake around his neck and chases Lance Russell away! The snake looks to be really pissed. Boyd lets the snake crawl on the ground and the crowd doesn’t like it too much. Meanwhile, Boyd cuts an interview directed at Jeff Jarrett.
-Jarrett/Travis/Tanaka interview
-Tommy Rich interview. Rich says he should get the title shot at the world title that Lawler earned. Followed by Tommy Rich vs Keith Erich.
-Jeff Jarrett & Billy Travis music video followed by an interview with them. RPM’s come out. This leads to an impromptu match with Jarrett and Travis putting the belts on the line against the RPM’s. Really good match. The RPM’s cheat to win the belts.
-Clips of Tommy Rich vs Big Bubba from MSC. Lawler helps Rich out when Bruno interferes, but ends up getting Rich DQ’d.
-Clips of Lawler vs Kabuki. Tommy Rich "accidentally" elbows Lawler in the head, allowing Kabuki to win.
-Tommy Rich video interview. Rich says Lawler may be insecure.
-
Bruno/Golliath/Bubba interview
-Memphis Vice interview—they pick a woman from the crowd named Emily Arthur that says she can beat Downtown Bruno. Bruno and crew come out.
-RPM’s vs Smothers & Paul
-Downtown Bruno/Boy Tony interview followed by Tracey Smothers interview
-8 man tag with Memphis Vice, Boy Tony, more…tracking problems during this segment
