Chapter Eight: The Secret Room

Walking into his house with Brian and Mac not too far behind Nick sighed. He couldn't believe his Mom had stuck him with Mac for god knows how long without even asking him. Ever since he has been told the truth about Mac he's been mad at her. He still couldn't believe he had been with her that long and didn't know. He would have forgave her easy if she would have said something sooner. The fact of the matter was she was forced and didn't want to tell him. That hurt Nick.

He soon turned his face to Mac. She was standing and talking to Brian about the up and coming Backstreet Tour months. What would he call her when they talked? If they talked. Truth was Nick desperately wanted things back to the way they used to be when they were younger but whenever he was around her he couldn't help but act the way he did. Brian's voice cut him out of his thinking.

"Dude!" He shouted while waving his hand infront of Nick's face. "Are you in there?"

Nick swated! his hands away. "Yeah I'm fine just thinking. Brian show Mac to one of the guestrooms I don't care which one I gotta go unpack." He then walked up the stairs.

Brian stuck his arm out towards the stairs. "You heard him lets go. I dunno what room to give ya but we'll figure it out when we get upstairs."

Walking up the stairs Brian opened the door to the empty room next to Nick's. Or what he thought was empty.

"Aw shit!" Brian said slamming the door seeing all the pictures lining the wall and the clothes that still sat there. "Uhh not that room. Nick would kill me."

"What do you mean?" Mac Asked.

Brian looked at her debating on weather or not it was his place to answer the question. 'Aww hell he's my best friend there for it's my buisness.' Once again Brian looked at her. "Uh let's find you a room and I'll tell ya all about it."

Opening the door next to it they walked into the room. Brian who was holding one of Mackenzie's suitcases put it down on one of the dressers near by. He turned around and smiled finding that Mac was already starting to unpack and hang her clothes in the closet.

"Who knows how long I'll be staying right?"

"Yep, anyway do you wanna know about that room?"

"Ooh yeah!" She said sitting down on the bed and Brian did the same.

"Geez I can't believe I forgot about that room. Alright see Nick had this girlfriend Bailey. Man I remember they were so in love. They went out for three years. We all thought that she was 'the one'. That they would be together for the rest of their lives. They bought this house together actually. I'm still amazed he didn't sell it after all the heart break. This place is pretty new ya know? Even I haven't been here many times. Anyway Bailey was smart, beautiful, blonde, and the total opposite of Nick. Well she moved all of her stuff in that room next to Nick's. They moved in together having separate rooms. Shortly after they moved in we had to go back on tour. Nick had one bad night were he was wasted. He shortly met a girl and one thing led to another and then next thing he knew there's this girl lying there next to him in bed and it wasn't his girlfriend. He couldn't even remember anything. Well Bailey found out when he came back to visit for a few days and she was pissed beyond belief. She trusted him and he betrayed that trust meaning to or not. Later that day she moved out taking one suitecase and leaving everything else here. She hasn't been back since. Sad thing is he didn't even try to stop her. I still wonder about that. When Nick came back from his mini two day vacation he was heartbroken. He wouldn't sleep, eat, anything. Finally we sat him down and told him this had to stop. He needed to get over her and he's trying. He doesn't like to talk about it much though."

Mac sat in shock. She had no idea. "Oh wow. So all her stuff is still here? Does he ever go in there?"

"To tell you the truth I wouldn't know cause like I said I'm not here much. But I guess it would hurt. There are pictures of the two of them that line that walls."

"That's sad really. I can't believe I wasn't there for him."

Brian put his hand on her shoulder. "Sweetie I'm sure if you give it time he'll come around. If I know Nick as well as I think I do then this won't last much longer. He wants that friendship back I can tell."
