Law And Order (2000)

Scott's first film of the new millenium is based on the hit TV series "Law And Order", with some changes. In this version, attorneys Jack McCoy, Adam Schiff, and Claire Kincaid have opened up their own failing law practice in upstate New York. McCoy has a chance meeting with writer Paulette Ross while on a country stroll, and a relationship is born. However, Paulette has recently been let out of the psychiatric hospital! Soon, her landlord winds up brutally murdered, as well as her shrink, both offed by a person in a hood. Old friend and Detective Lennie Briscoe shows up to help solve the case, and the final few twists prove that the murderer and motives hit too close to home.

Behind The Scenes

"I have always liked the 'Law And Order' series, so I decided to do my own version." Scott remarks. Although noticably different from the TV show, the characters he kept are the ones he feel people will probably most remember from the series.
As a joke, Scott threw in a commercial seen by Ross' character on her TV. "Before we started filming, I made a chintzy 'New Yankee Workshop'(another show he likes) sign, threw a pillow in my shirt, a beard on my face, and I did Norm Abram doing an opening for his show. Norm might get a laugh out of it. People might miss it, but it was just something I got a hair up my butt to do."
