Again Alive (1993)

The Story:

One of Scott's more unusual films, this one features Tim Arthur as Simon Shimmerman, a writer of Ninja stories troubled by a bad case of writer's block, as well as a constant dream in which a Ninja is running loose destroying things. After his crotchety Uncle Milton proves to be more of a hinderance than a help, he contacts Dr. Lansing, a psychiatrist who dabbles in hypnosis. Together, they try to unravel the meaning behind Simon's nightmare, and in doing so uncover a plot of murder!

Behind the scenes

Scott has mixed feelings about this film, which he considers to be one of his most offbeat. "This one was pretty strange." laughs Scott. "Arthur only played one role in this film, and that is because he was at a friend's (Jason McBrian, who did uncredited camera work on 'Cromwell's Hand') house the previous night and was exhausted. He did a good job, however." Scott, a fan of Kenneth Branagh's "Dead Again", says that film was sort of an inspiration for this one.
"People loved the blood puking scene, and the odd flashbacks." Scott smiles. "And who can forget the killer's line when he says how he disposed of a victim's body..that nice deadpan low voice: "I ate him."
