Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers
The film begins at Camp Rolling Hills, as a group of boy campers are telling campfire tales with their counselor. One of the girls, Phoebe (Heather Binion), has sneaked away to join them in their storytelling, and she tells the story of the previous killings that occurred a few years ago at nearby Camp Arawak. Many campers and staff members were brutally murdered by a fourteen-year-old boy gone crazy. The boy, Peter Baker, was dressed up as a girl by his adoptive aunt and given his dead sister's name, Angela, who died in a boating accident with their father. Peter was also molested by his aunt and was repeatedly picked on by other Camp Arawak campers and staff members.
Just as Phoebe is finishing up the story, her counselor, Angela Johnson (Pamela Springsteen), sees her and escorts her back to the girls' cabin. Angela is very mad towards Phoebe, and suggests that she'd be sent home. Storming away in the dark woods, Phoebe gets lost and calls out for Angela, who finds and kills her. Angela Johnson is actually Angela Baker, who's had a sex change and gone through various medications, even shock treatment. The doctors thought she was cured and released her, only giving her the chance to return to another camp to kill once again!
Angela kills all of the bad campers, and then covers it up as sending them home. The camp director repeatedly tells her that further actions should be consulted by him, but Angela continues on with her gory rampage, slashing all of the campers to death, until only one final girl is left in a thrilling chase through the woods. Will she be strong enough to defeat Angela? You'll find out in this sequel to the cult classic original, which combines the elements of horror and comedy to deliver a throroughly enjoyable cheesefest!
I'm not sure, but I might've seen this one before the first Sleepaway Camp. Anyway, I enjoyed this one for all of the laughs and gory fun it offered. Unfortunately, Felissa Rose didn't reprise her role as the maniacal Angela. Instead, Bruce Springsteen's little sister Pamela portrayed the role. I found a lot of the campers to be pretty bratty and annoying, but I enjoyed Molly, who's played by Renče Estevez, the sister of Emilio Estevez.
There's a little bit more gore in this one than its predecessor. The rundown cabin which Angela visits faraway from the campsite is a creepy aspect of the film. Towards the conclusion of the film, two campers discover all of the rotting, dead bodies in the cabin. I enjoyed this sequel very much, so if you enjoyed the original, you might want to give this one a look! Also known as Nightmare Vacation 2 in the UK.
