The Killer Tongue
A woman named Candy (Mindy Clarke) hides out in a rundown desert gas station, waiting inside with her four colorful poodles. She's got a lot of money on hand from a heist, and she's waiting for her boyfriend to return from his prison serving, due to his previous participation in the robbery, which is shown at the beginning, having two military men getting their mouths super-glued to each other, ending up in one slicing a knife in between to set them free!
While eating dinner one night with her poodles, a meteorite crashes into her soup, which she eats, immediately transforming her into a sexy and bizarre-looking alien with a humongous, talking tongue, which spits out one-liners and jokes, often of bad taste. The meteorite also transforms her poodles into drag queens, who go around and kidnap others, turning them into make-over disasters.
When another man comes to get the loot, Candy's unsuccessful in trying to get help, so her tongue eventually kills him, going all the way into his mouth in out the back of his head (which reminded me of a certain kiss/death scene from Species)! She tries desperately many times to chop off her tongue in sometimes digusting and squeamish ways, but her tongue slaps her in the face or tries to strangle her in the process.
Candy's boyfriend finally escapes prison, but has a love affair with another woman, who is a deafmute ex-nun, who's made into a vivacious beauty by Candy's poodles/drag queens. Candy finally figures out her boyfriend's betrayal, which enrages her to use her tongue in a deadly battle, including nuns, a prison guard, and Candy's poodles/drag queens!
I happened to watch this comedic gorefest one night, and it was pretty good. Released by A-Pix Entertainment, which usually brings out bottom-of-the-barrel films, this Spain/UK Alberto Sciamma-directed film mixes the elements of horror and mostly comedy, resulting in a truly bizarre mix of events, which seems like a Troma film. Some viewers might be offended by its bad taste of humor, which sometimes deals with homosexual aspects, but others will just find it plain-funny.
Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street fame) plays the mean-spirited prison guard Chief Screw, who's the only actor I recognized in this low-budget schlocker, which uses some good tongue and make-up effects. This is recommended if you want a purely-ridiculous film, or if you enjoyed Dead Alive (A.K.A. Brain Damage), but some people might not like this so-bad-it's-good movie.
