The House on Haunted Hill (1958)
Vincent Price portrays Frederick Loren, who is throwing a spooky birthday party for his wife Annabelle. The party guests are all promised each ten thousand dollars if they stay the entire night. Although, there's something in the house that wants to bring harm to all of them. Could it be ghosts, and what will become of all the party guests in the morning?
I thought the 1999 reamke to this 1958 William Castle cult film was much better than this very cheesy and often boring original. I'm not a fan of really old films, and I actually had high hopes for this one. The acting is very bad, as well as the hilarious special effects, which weren't very advanced back then. The plot twist at the conclusion of the film did surprise me, though. It's bearable enough to sit through, but I didn't like it that much.
