The Car
The Car opens up with a familiar theme song, which is the one from The Shining. But wait just one minute, this was made three years before The Shining when it was released in 1980, and the theme also sounds a little different. I've noticed this song in a lot of other movies, many of them made before The Shining, such as Shriek of the Mutilated. Well, enough with that; I just thought everyone would like to know that. As the credits roll on, projected against the outskirts of a desert where the sun is just rising, I noticed that Kyle Richards was in it. Kyle Richards is the little girl who played Lyndsey in the original Halloween, which followed a year later. She plays one of the cute, little daughters of Wade (James Brolin), the main character. Two cyclers, a girl and a boy, are riding along, when a huge, black car approaches them and kills them both, throwing them off of the road. The car then goes off to many other places in the small town, and runs over much of the population.
This film reminded me a lot of Wheels of Terror, which followed many years later and was made for TV. The plot is similar, in that there is no driver in the car, just like Stephen King's Christine, which I also enjoyed. I liked this film pretty much, and I thought the car horn was hilarious. My sister and I were imitating it everywhere we went after we saw the movie! Definitely recommended!
