In the late 1930's, there was a new movement on the rise amoung the teenagers of Hamburg, Germany. It's followers refused to join the Nazi youth organization, the Hitler Jugend- know as the H.J.. They wore their hair long and were odsessed by American movies, British fashion, and Swing music. They called themselves Swing Kids. Hundreds of Swing Kids were sent to work camps. Thousands more were forced into the and died int the war. But the movement continued to grow and a new generation of Swing Kids survived to see the defeat of the Nazis.
