Through
her powers of Telekinesis, Tina Shepard killed her father by accident when she
was younger at Crystal Lake.
In hopes of helping the process of healing, her doctor brings her and
her mother back to the lake.
Little known to them, Tina will use her powers to bring Jason back from
the depths of Crystal Lake to kill again.
My
Review: “The New Blood,” is
one of the best of the 80’s horror films.
The movie is a veritable potpourri of movie elements.
From horror to comedy, this film is one that will please on almost all
levels.
One of the best things
about this film is the enlistment of Kane Hodder as out ‘Hero,” Jason.
Though many by this time had begun rutting for Jason as much as they
had the victims, Kane gave Jason a personality.
He brings to the all ready established icon a ‘no-nonsense’
attitude that only works toward the betterment of the series. Kane is a God-send to the series. The final fight scene between Jason and Tina are some of the
most interesting scenes that you will see in any Friday film.
John Carl’s direction
is one of the strongest in the series as he isn’t afraid as some of the
directors have been, in that fact that he likes horror and uses it to its
fullest. Much interest has arisen
since the movie premiered about the missing scenes of violence and gore, and
with just reason. The watchful eyes of the MPAA have diluted virtually every
kill in the film. In fact, this
film would more than likely rank with the second film in regards to the amount
of the censoring that to place. Having
scene the footage, I can attest that film would be a lot gorier and it could
only improve an already great installment.
Overall: A very solid
entry in a series that by this point had already gotten old to the mainstream
audience. The idea of “Carrie
verses Jason” works very well and provides the most worthy adversary of
Jason since Tommy (parts 4-6) or Ginny (part 2).
This one is well worth repeated watching.
I just hope and pray that one day we will see the missing scenes
restored.
