Synopsis:
Tommy
Jarvis returns to the cemetery where Jason is buried, with a friend from the
mental institution. They dig him up, and a bolt of lightening revives Jason.
Tommy tries to warn the sheriff of Crystal Lake, which has now been renamed to
Forest Green, but the sheriff believes its Tommy's craziness talking.
My
Review: It
was nice to be able to see what was happening to Tommy Jarvis since he was in
F13 Part 4 & 5 where we really got to know his character. Many believe
that Friday The 13th Part 5: A New Beginning is the worst movie to hit
the series, and while I tend to believe it wasn't the best storyline, I think
it helps to lead up to this film. In Friday The 13th Part 4: The Final
Chapter we get to see that Tommy comes from a nice loving family, that all
changes as soon as Jason arrives. His mother is taken away from him, and its
believed that his sister is somehow dead. Friday The 13th Part 5: A New
Beginning shows the effects of Part 4 to us. Tommy's mind is playing
tricks on him, so when the murders begin he doesn't know if he's doing them or
if Jason has really returned. In Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives,
Tommy is really screwed up, but he's working his way back to being sane. He
just needs to make sure Jason's dead, and in doing so, he revives Jason.
I
believe this is by far one of the better films in the series, but definitely
not the best of the series.
Gore:
What
I really don't like is that a lot of the killing is shown off screen. Many of
the Friday The 13th films have had lots of gore cut just to avoid an X rating.
But if you watch some action films there is more blood and gore in those then
in a freaking horror movie. Not only that, but the other day I watched this
other horror movie, really low budget and really stupid, the gore looked
pretty fake, but there was so much gore it was great. With the Friday The 13th
films they need to apply more gore, and not have it cut.
Sexual
Content: Yes, there is a
sex scene, but nothing is really shown.
Soundtrack:
Awesome songs by Alice
Cooper. Teenage Frankenstein & The Man Behind the Mask.
Character
Development: The
characters don't really develop too much in this film. Tommy's character
doesn't really need much, because we already know him from the two films
before this. Megan's character is developed more then any of the other's but
we still don't know all that much about her. We know she's the sheriffs
daughter, and that she takes and immediate interest in Tommy, she's a
counselor, and she's good friends with the other counselors. Sheriff Garris is
the guy everyone loves to hate. He loves his daughter a lot, but he lies
to Megan about Jason, and Tommy.
Acting:
Great job on the acting
if you ask me. Horror movies are known for bad acting, at least older horror
movies. In fact Tony Goldwyn just like Kevin Bacon made it big after appearing
in this film. Tony played Darren, remember him? He's the one of the head camp
counselors along with Lizabeth, Jason gets in the path of the car, and Tony
tries to stop him. Well Tony went on to other movies such as 1990's Ghost
with Patrick Swayze, and Demi Moore, 1992's Kuffs with Christian Slater
& Milla Jovovich (who currently stars in Resident Evil as Alice), and more
recently he was in Bounce, with Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Overall:
Overall its not a bad
film for the series, and it brings Friday The 13th Part 4 & 5 to a
close.
