Synopsis
& Review:
A chainsaw, a shotgun, and string of
cheesy one-liners, Evil Dead 2 has it all (Even a kitchen sink)!!! This is one
of my all time favorite movies. I like the whole series, but this movie is
entirely cheesy and entertaining, not really scary. Sam Raimi and Scott
Spiegel change the story of the Evil Dead, in Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn. The
fist Evil Dead, was about a group of teens who go to a cabin in the woods and
have a run in with demons. Well other than a continuation, the first part of
Evil Dead 2 is a remaking of the first movie. The movie still stars Ash (Bruce
Campbell), the nice guy who works down at the S-mart.
The movie starts off with Ash and his
girlfriend going to a cabin in the woods. All is well till Ash stumbles across
Professor Knoby's tape recorder and an ancient book. Deciding to listen to the
tape, Ash listens to Knoby reading passages from the Necromomecon and accidentally
awakens demons in the woods.
The demons possess Ash's girlfriend and begin
to drive Ash mad. Unable to escape the woods, it is now up to Ash to battle
the Evil Spirits.
But all is not lost, for Professor Knoby's
daughter and her boyfriend are on there way to the cabin. Upon reaching the
bridge that leads into the woods, the Professors daughter finds the bridge
destroyed. Convincing two locals to show them a walking path into the woods,
the group of four head to the cabin.
Who should await them when they arrive but
good ol' Ash, and a forest full of demons.
Can the group of five survive the night, yet
alone themselves? Or will the wicked forest have its way with them?
The first movie was frightening and much more
serious than the second. The second installment is a combination of horror and
comedy, which really works well in this story. If you liked this movie, be
sure to check out part three of the series titled Army of Darkness. Its a
continuation of Ash and his battles with the Evil Dead.
