DAWN OF THE DEAD

Director(s): George A. Romero

Writer(s): George A. Romero

Cast: David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott H. Reiniger, Gaylen Ross

Synopsis:   This is the second installment of the trilogy of “living dead” movies.  The First, “Night of the Living Dead,” (1968), second was this film,” Dawn of the Dead”(1978), and the third being “Day of the Dead”(1985).  “Dawn of the Dead” takes over where “Night of the living dead” left off.  The newly dead are coming back to “life” and feeding off human flesh. With the world in total chaos, a group of four people decides to hold up in an abandoned shopping mall.  This utopian existence works quite well until unforeseen circumstances challenge their very existence.

My Review: “Night of the Living Dead” was a classic that arguably set the standard for the zombie movies that followed.  As far as sequels go, “Dawn of the Dead” is very good.  The makeup artist Tom Savini (who created the grotesque zombies for all three of these movies) creates his magic again.  If you are squeamish at all, this may not be the movie for you.

If you are into gore and plenty of blood and dismemberments, with a very good plot thrown in, then check out “Dawn of the Dead.”

This reviewer highly recommends this movie.
