Midsummer Night's Doom- Raymond Benson 1999

Summary- M calls Bond into her office and tells him that vital information about British military equipment is leaking out of the country. SIS has discovered that the leak is Martin Tuttle, a rock singer. He manages to get hold of the information, and passes it on to his contact when he attends parties at Playboy Mansion West. Bond is sent to the party to discover Tuttle's contact and retrieve microfilm containing information about new FPAs, or infrared focal plane arrays.
Bond goes to the Midsummer Night's Dream party, where he meets Hugh Hefner and some of the playmates. Bond discovers that movie-maker Redenius is Tuttle's contact, who plans on sneaking the microfilm out of the country in his girlfriends pearl necklace. Bond stops Redenius, who killed Tuttle rather than pay, and retrieved the microfilm.
My Grade- C-  This story is really just an excuse for James Bond to meet Hugh Hefner. The plot is a little lacking, but it is an enjoyable, quick read.
Best Moment- With not much else to choose from, this moment has to be when James Bond meets Hugh Hefner. The two kindred spirits get along well.
