Stuart Little       Cert U

Based on the book by E.B. White ( the chap who wrote Charlotte's Web) ,Stuart Little is a rarity amongst modern cinema. It's a family film that truely appeals to the whole family.
Stuart is a mouse, not just your average, everyday humble rodent, but an orphaned mouse who possesses wit, charm, intelligence and happily the voice of Michael J. Fox.
Hugh Laurie and Geena Davis star as Mr. and Mrs. Little, a New York couple  who intend to adopt a new brother or sister for their only son George. Their family life, however, takes an unexpected twist after a chance meeting with Stuart in the local orphanage and the newest Little in New York measures in at only three inches high.
Now, at this point, you could be forgiven for expecting a cute children's film with a poor story line and dodgey effects but Stuart Little is something totally different. It's a film that's full of action, adventure, acerbic cats and snappy one liners. Over a period of  90 minutes you really will laugh, cry, take an instant dislike to the feline fraternity of New York, but most of all, you'll believe that Stuart exists and there's nothing strange in the whole of America treating a mouse like a human being.
To be truthful, it's the everyday normality with which Stuart is treated (and the digital effects that make this possible) that make the film such a sure fire hit.
For a film that appeals to children of all ages which leaves you with an overwhelming feeling of `joie de vivre', you won't find better than Stuart Little this Summer, and if you feel you're too old to go and see it on your own, treat a nephew, niece or grandchild and enjoy a classic film about a mouse with one heck of a tale.
