Five years after being murdered by a covert government agency, Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) makes a pact with the devil so that he can be resurrected to see his beloved wife, Wanda (Theresa Randle) one last time. In exchange, Simmons agrees to lead Hell's Army in the destruction of mankind and is reborn as Spawn.
Spawn is a one-man army with chameleon-like powers. But as he begins to discover his new strengths, Spawn encounters two strange beings; Cogliostro (Nicol Williamson) who wants Spawn to fight the devil as a champion for mankind and Clown (John Leguizamo) who wants Earth's destruction. To help Spawn make up his mind, Clown enlists Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen), the man behind Simmons' death. Wynn wants to dominate the world and has the most formidable arsenal of weapons to succeed. So comes the dreadful confrontation between Wynn and Spawn with the future of mankind in their hands.
