The Next Generation, Seasons 1-2

The first season uniforms are unique in their own. This is not an easy uniform to make. A stretch polyester looks good. After all, if any of the STAR TREK uniforms are tight, this has to top it.

There are a lot of pieces to this pattern, so, make sure you mark each one so you know what it is. Sew each piece according to the pattern. You will find the hardest part to this uniform is the shoulders. The division color that is in the piping from the shoulders to the chest should only be about 1/4" thick after sewing it to your pieces.

Make sure your front and back yolks match up perfectly. If they don't, the divisional colors wont line up. My advice is to line up the pieces making sure that the divisional colors are alined, pin, then sew. This pattern doesn't give a very big seam allowance.

Once you have gotten the whole thing sewn, there is one last step. The zipper...The zippers are invisible zippers. Why they chose to put a zipper in the front is beyond me. These zippers tend to break a lot. They catch onto the fabric. Anyway, try to match the two halves.

A person can see why they dropped this design.

INSIGNIA/COMBADGE There are two types. My recommondations are wear the one you like. Beware of the shiny badge. Your badge should not be reflective. It should have more of a metalic look. I attached mine with velcro like they do on the show, but you can just pin yours.

RANK PIPS Decide on the rank and pin to your collar. The actual pin is just a little over 1/4" in diameter and are not shiny

HOLSTERS You'll need these for your phaser and tricorder.
