Luke-Black Jedi Outfit

Jedi Knight Jumpsuit Tips

The Green Pepper co. sells a pattern called "Men's Black Butte Jumpsuit" #F786. The pattern can be found at fabric stores or you can call Green Pepper at: (541) 689-3292. Follow the pattern exactly. I recommend using black gabardine fabric because wool is hot and sometimes hard to come by in certain parts of the country. The only exceptions to the pattern are the front overflap for the chest, and the jumpsuit runs a little large. As you cut the pieces, check the fit. For the chest flap, just measure the amount of material from below the neck to the waist, cut it, sew it to the seam on the left side and sew Velcro to the other side so that it will lay down.

Jedi Knight Outer Cloak Tips

The outer cloak is just a cotton/wool blend material.
There are many patterns for biblical costumes out there I suggest using one of those (both McAll's and Simplicity have them).

Jedi Knight Vest Tips

The vest also a cotton/wool blend. This is a very basic vest pattern that can be found at any fabric store.
The sash is easy. Take your waist measurement, add a couple of inches and cut your material. The sash height should be around 10". Sew velcro at the ends for easy application.

Jedi Knight Boots Tips

The boots used in the films were the same German riding boots that everyone else wore. If you're having trouble finding the real boots, go to Chippewa Boots and pick up some Motorcycle boots (reference number 27909). You'll need to remove the two buckles. The boots are made by Chippewa but they're distributed through several different dealers. The Chippewa site can find a dealer that is close to you.
A less expensive alternative would be to visit Grand Prix Equestrian. They sell all leather Devon-Aire riding boots (pictured to the right) a little cheaper than the comparable Chippewa boot listed above. Grand Prix also sells a synthetic boot called the Foxwood, starting at $24.

Jedi Knight Belt Tips

The Jedi Knight belt is quite easy to make. Visit Tandy Leather and pick up a 2" wide belt blank and dye it black. You'll also need a rectangular belt buckle. The D-ring can be bought at any leather supplier or through Tandy. The lightsaber hook is actually a picture frame hook that has been bent flat and riveted onto the belt.

Jedi Knight Mechanical Hand Tips

To get an accurate mechanical hand, you'll first need to have it severed in a lightsaber duel with a Dark Lord of the Sith. After losing your hand, have a medical droid install another one. Easy, eh? If you would rather do it the hard way, you can just get a black glove to cover your right hand.

NOTE: This is a joke. If you try something stupid and lose your hand in the process, don't blame me.
