Child's Play is where it all began! It is the first movie to feature Chucky, the first movie murderer to actually have a mind and a personality of his own. Below are pictures from Child's Play and then you can read my opinion of the movie.
~REVIEW~ Child's Play is where it all began, where we were first introduced to the most classic "doll comes to life and kills everybody" horror movie of all time. And where we were also introduced to one of the first movie murderers to have a mind and personality of his own, who else...Chucky! The movie's plot is rather simple- A 6 year old boy, named Andy Barklay's birthday is coming up and all he wants more than anything in the whole world is a Good Guy Doll. It's a red-haired doll featuring its own tv show and voice box so it can speak tons of catchy phrases like, "I'll be your friend to the end!" and my personal favorite, "Hiddy-Ho!!! Hahaha", in a very high pitched voice. His mother, Karen, knows she can't afford the doll but then ends up buying it for less from a homeless guy outside her workplace. What she and nobody else but Andy knows (and this does take 'em an awful long time to figure out) is that the doll is really alive, the soul of the mad serial killer Charles Lee Ray (the Lakeshore Strangler) circuling inside the small body. Hence the doll's name turns out to be Chucky, short for Charles and it goes on a killing rampage while trying to return to a human body once again, because if he doesn't by a certain time he will be stuck inside the mutilating doll's body...forever! The catch is that he can only enter the body of the first person he told that he was alive, and that's poor little Andy. You can see where it goes from here...Anyway, I liked this movie very much because it was defiantly very scary, had so many jumps and thrills in it, went very slowly and creepily, and still managed to get Chucky's cool individual personality in there a little bit. Here's the scale, it's four stars (****) and I'd give this movie overall as a MOVIE- ***1/2, as a HORROR- ****, and for Chucky's personality showing, which is important to any big Chucky fan- ** (He doesn't really talk that much). See this movie if you love horror flicks, because this one really is a classic and it's very entertaining! *Click BACK on your browser to return to main page*
