26th January - Jodie on 'Hannibal'

'Access Hollywood' has been in Park City - The Sundance Film Festival. They interviewed Jodi Foster who was there. Once again she confirmed that she's leaving Hannibal because of her upcoming 'Flora Plum' starring Claire Danes. Next, they had clips of inter- views with Hilary Swank (Boys Don't Cry) and Ashley Judd (Eye of the Beholder). Swank said that she has been reading the script and is very interested. She said that they are talking about her possible involvement right now. As for Judd, she said that she is not going to be involved with the film. She said that it is a great part, but she said that they have been talking with "someone" already and that "someone" would be "perfect" for the part. That's basically the entire newsbit. If you want to listen the entire interview - download this file (322k).

22nd January - Blanchett is out. MGM & Universal split.

#1 An article at HollywoodReporter.com says that you for sure can cross out Cate Blanchet from the list of those, who might be taking the female lead role. It also says, that Universal and MGM, who originally were supposed to finance the project, have "fallen apart". The only good thing is that Hopkins still wants to join the cast..

#2 Don't think Universal is giving up afterall. They just registered a domain name - "www.hannibalmovie.com". Of course nothing is working yet, but if you want more details, check this out . Still don't belive me?

11th January - Script Review by Stax

Oh yes, Stax is back with another script review, This time Davids Mamet's screen adaption of the novel Hannibal. Yes Mamets and not Steve Zaillins. David Mamet got his rejected, and what you're going to read a review of here is exactly the one Universal Studios said no to.

HANNIBAL script review by 'Stax' (mixed/negative)

10th January - Cate Blanchett?

#1 It popped up an article at Variety, in which it stood that Cate Blunchett and none other would probably get an offer from Universal Pictures to take the the leading female role as agent Starling. It also stood that another actress could getthe role if Blunchett turned it down, but no name was mentioned. Don't think it's Gillian Anderson, who has an "X-files" cloud hanging above...

#2Flash, a canadian entertainment program reports that the 'Hannibal' project will be cancelled if five of the actresses which are on the shortlist will turn it down. Among them Gillian Anderson and Calista Flockheart who probably are the top prioreties, the other three are Helen Hunt, Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett. I think Gillian or Helen Hunt may be the right one.. But Calista, Ally, come on people!

6th January - Will Hannibal ever hit the bigscreen?

Yes it's the question that you'll have to ask yourself for the next couple of weeks, while Unoversal Pictures make up their minds on the project. Chairman Stacey Snider says that scrapping the whole project is an option insedof recasting Clarice Starling. If that will happens, then the actresses that may get the role are: Gillian Anderson, Calista Flockhart, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett or Hillary Swank.
