This near-perfect suspense movie is based on a '60s television series, which was in turn based on a
famous true incident in the '50s. A doctor (Ford) wrongly accused of killing his wife (Ward) escapes authorities,
continually eludes a zealous detective (Jones), and hunts for clues to solve his wife's murder himself, thus
proving his innocence. The bizarre circumstances which led to the death only sweeten the
suspense. Followed by a 1998 sequel, U.S. Marshals.
