At the restart, the Ferraris and McLarens raced like mad as the super-fast Williams' pulled away in the first 2 places. Montoya was miles in the lead when his pitstop went wrong, dropping him to third. Then a string of front-runners retired: Hakkinen, M Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard, leaving only two men from the top three teams (R Schumacher, who won, and Barrichello who was second).
