Film & TV Connection : an entertainment industry school with 5,000 students worldwide who train on-site at major film studios, video production companies, radio and TV stations, recording studios and record labels.

Week of May 19/2003

- a very un-PC sort of name for a site, but seems like a fine site to me.

Week of September 16/2002

Cinefear - 60's/70's exploitation and more...
Sinister Cinema - many old and forgotten cult films from all decades of cinematic history.
Second Spin - used CDs, videos, and DVD.

Week of September 2/2002

http://www.dvdconfidential.com - new reviews of DVD, of course.

The Onion - very funny satarical newspaper.

Movie Mayham- a new film site from the UK.

Week of June 24/02

Well, it seems to take forever for me to update this links page, so that means there will be tons of new links:

Cinebizarre - cult films for sale. A very weird selection; lots of sexploitation and "classic" pornography, but these guys make these films sound interesting.
Softcore Reviews - another site devoted to reviews of sexy softcore knock-offs. There is also a Yahoo! Group, in which one can download clips from some of these films.
Jump the Shark - when good TV shows go bad! I like this site, just because it has so many different opinions from ordinary viewers as to when certain shows go downhill.
Mondo Erotico- I don't know; did I already list this site somewhere? Anyway, another site dealing with cult films, and directors like Jean Rollin, Radley Metzger, etc.
Epinions - Many of my reviews are also on this site. The rest aren't, mainly because Epinions doesn't have listings for these obscure pictures!!
The Museum of Broadcast Communications - includes archives on many subjects in television history.
Kandahar, the movie - official website for Moshen Mahkmalbauf's film.
Makhmalbauf Film House - apparently, the whole Makhmalbauf household, not just Moshen, are born filmmakers. Even the youngest daughter is writing scripts, and she's not even a teenager!
Mongrel Media - a great Canadian distributor of art and foreign films.
Ryan's Smile Site - a site dedicated to the "lost" Beach Boys album, Smile. Includes MP3's of the songs.
Seville Pictures - another Canadian film distributor.
mathilde.marie - a very strange, but tasteful, French erotic site.
absoluement femmes - more erotic photography.
Icestorm Video - distributor of classic German films.

......and that's enough for now.

Week of January 14/2002
Talking Pictures is a site from Britian that explores all forms of media from films, television, video to computer games. Contains news, comment and book reviews.
Classic Films - a site which has outlines of numerous films from the Classic era of Hollywood

Week of October 22/2001
Insomniac Mania - another review site, which seems to focus on popular (mostly action and sci-fi) films.

Week of June 4/2001
Ross Anthony's Hollywood Report Card - A well-designed site containing graded reviews of current Hollywood film, as well as links to the author's other projects.
Top 100 Movie Lists - Capsule reviews of these two writer's 100 favourite films, as well as lists submitted by visitors to the site.
www.unknownmovies.com - great site contains lots of reviews of many cheesy, wretched and just plain bad films.

Week of March 26/2001

Week of March 12/2001
Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival - a festival in which Roger presents films, genres, or formats that are overlooked.  Films in this year's card include Robert Altman's Three Women, and the musical Oklahoma, presented in the rare Todd-AO Format.
Haarlem Sneak Review - reviews of films presented as sneak previews in several theatres in the Netherlands.

Week of February 26/2001
Huge Movie Quiz: 1400+ Questions on Cinema, Trivia, Screen Shots, Quotes, etc. -  The method of play is similar to "hangman", and I'm rarely good at that game, so you can picture for yourself how sucessful I was on this site......
Frog's Movie Reviews -well-designed site focusing on current action and horror flicks, mainly.  I like the name of the site, so that's why it's here!
Pulp Film - a cool site about cult films, anime, etc.
Blunt Review - Emily Blunt and her really insane reviews.  Great stuff!

Week of February 5/2001
BBM Enterprises - the guy who does this site likes many things, from movies, to football to the WWF.  He also has a Robert De Niro Page.

Week of January 22/2001
Well, I found all of these great independant film companies on the web the other day, which proves that there are still films being made which do not have any major studio support. Visit them!
Cowboy Booking International
Lot 47
Artistic Lisence
Film Fatale, Inc.
Zeitgeist Films
Roxie Cinema/Releasing
Women Make Movies

A-Movie-to-see - great review site, with lots of old and new films being reviewed
Films42.com - a site in which a married couple give ratings and comments on the videos they've seen.

Absolute Daria Files - Daria is one of the very few shows I watch on TV.  Here is one of the better fan sites.

Week of January 15/2001
Anchor Bay Entertainment - this company has been buying up the rights to so many obscure, forgotten and cheap productions that they have a catalog whose quantity rivals that of more respectable outfits!
Home Vision Video - finally, after, I don't know, a few years, this company has finally opened up their website again. This is one of the great sources for older foriegn films.
Winstar Cinema - formerly Fox Lorber Home Video, another company with a large list of international and obscure titles.
Cinetalk - lots of good reviews of past and present films.  Well-designed also.

Week of December 18/2000
The Beastman
The Big Screen - review sites focusing on current theatrical and video releases.

Week of October 16/00
Combustible Celluloid - an awesome review site!!!  Has many reviews of many classics, and current films as well.  The list is almost as insanely varied as mine.
Cinemamas - as they claim, cinema sarcasm at its best.  Well, it`s pretty close.

Week of October 2/00
The Film Critiquer - Well-presented site containing many opinions and essays on both individual films and issues surrounding cinema and Hollywood.
Cinema Paradise - reviews of everything, from current releases to foriegn titles like Babette`s Feast and others.

Week of September 4/00
Movieman`s Guide to the Movies - well-designed site focusing on current hits.

- truly hysterical, and brilliant, reviews, that are definitly not for the weak of heart. Highlights for me included the reviews for Jules and Jim, Bring It On, and Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS.  It would not be giving it away to say that the writers hated all of them.

A.J.`s Place: Movies and More - Reviews of current movies, as well as movie news and links to other sites.

- this gal wants you to send in recommendations for good films to watch, and she has seen many, even more than I!

Week of August 28/00
Film Reviews - Papers, Reviews & Criticism of Film - Order numerous acedemic papers on the cinema.  Certainly useful for those who want to study film in depth.

Week of July 24/2000

    - I really enjoy this site, mainly because of the author`s passionate defense of Winslet`s body image.  I, too, am curious about one thing: if someone as gorgeous as Kate is consider by Hollywood to be fat, then how the hell skinny do you have to be in order to get flattering attention????

The Popcorn Lobby - great reviews from Ms. Linda.  Certainly one of the better-designed and written review sites I`ve read recently.
The Popcorn Gallery - continuing with the popcorn theme, this page is by a reviewer from Newfoundland.

Square Domain - another review site.  Includes a number of great theatre-going moments experienced by the writers.

Videoflyer - I have two of Josh Bell`s reviews from this site presented on my site (with his permission, of course!!)

Week of July 3/2000
R'OR Originals - artwork for sale by Robert O`Rourke; includes a number of movie-related prints, from such films as Vertigo, Casablanca, and others.

Week of June 19/2000
Movie Freak - contains numerous film resources, from reviews of current movies, previews of upcoming ones, as well as sounds and movie-scripts.
Flat Soda - A new film site.  I`m a soda freak, so of course I like the title.
Lars Attacks -  A clever title for what seems to be a pretty good site.
The Z Review - A review site in which the writers only rate movies that they hated.
MOOvees.com - rates movies with milk.  As my family owns a farm, I  could appreciate the combination of cows and movies!

Week of June 12/2000
Arm Chair Film Critic - A very new site in which you can submit your own reviews.  There are hardly any reviews on the site currently, so you better get writing!

Flipside Movie Emporium - a really fine site with many reviews of mainstream and very strange, low-budget B-movies.  If you are a fan of the B-movie horror genre, this is the site for you.

Another Gina Gershon site! Probably the best one I`ve seen so far on her.
    Gina Gershon: An Unofficial Tribute

Week of May 29/2000
Two Gina Gershon sites!!
Most Wanted: Gina Gershon
Stuntman`s Gina Gershon Page

Two sites which are worthy to me because they have something to do with our feline friends, who are of course the best pets around!!
Elchris Birmans and Somalis Home Page
Azrael And Phoebe`s Kitty Critics` Corner Movie Reviews

Week of May 8/2000
Well, I`ve visited a few more film-related sites, from other fan`s on the internet, and here they are:
Pamela`s Film and Entertainment Site - features many interviews with such stars as Angelina Jolie, Woody Allen and others.
Movies And Magic -well-designed site.  Seems to focus on directors and films of a high-budgeted spectale variety.
Serendipity - attempts to do more than just give typical film reviews.  In-depth discussions of such films as The Truman Show, Kids, and the James Bond series.
Pete`s Movie Page
Mark L. Browning`s Movie Site
Scott`s Movie Comments
Movie Hell
The Art House Squatter
Video A Go-Go
Mark L. Falcanor`s Film Page

The Erotic Minds of Anais Nin and Aphra Behn - this is where you can find my attempt at a brillant piece of literary research.  The subject is, obviously, the writings of Anais Nin and Aphra Behn.

....Natasha Lyonne, of course...

The British Board of Film Classification - there has been a bit of a stir in Britian lately, set off by Channel 4 , because of the seemingly strict rulings of the country`s classification board, which does not allow British TV to air a vast number of films in their uncut form.  One thing is for sure: when you look at the decisions on a certain number of films, you are amazed that the United Kingdom is still quite uptight compared to other countries.  But (in my biased opinion!), considering the fact that a lot of the films which are rejected or cut turn out to rather vile, and pointlessly violent, pieces of work, it`s hard for me to get all hot and bothered about it (like I said, a biased opinion!!!).

Week of May 1/2000
Movieguru - any film review page which dares to give the rating of cow manure to the worst films is quite okay in my book!

Femme Productions - An adult film company run by the notorious and facinating Candida Royalle.  Unique in that Royalle focuses on what she considers to be female-friendly, couple-oriented erotic films.  The site itself is very tasteful and informative about her work and her beliefs.

Ricki Lake
Jenny Jones - Exploitive, sleazy, trashy daytime television.  Isn`t that what makes America great??

The Robert Altman Appreciation Site - the only true site I`ve found devoted to who I think must be one of our most neglected directors.  Here`s a guy who has made such influental films as MASH and Nashville, and yet, many of his films have been ignored by the studios which released them.  For example, Three Women, Images, California Split and many others have never been released on video even though they were major releases.  This website attempts to give Altman the respect he deserves.

ForeignFilms.com - a video center devoted exclusivly to international films. My kind of video store!!

Week of April 17/2000
Crosswalk - a web network aimed for true Christians, as an alternative to the apparent depravity of modern culture.  So don`t ask why I visited it.  This link is to their movie section, which gave me much amusment, especially when the critic tore apart Boys Don`t Cry, and for the obvious reasons of sqeamishness.  The tragedy for him was that the main character engaged in lesbian acts.  Her murder?.....who cares??

MSNBC
CNN
        - all the news that`s fit for huge conglomerates.

Filmaholics Anonymous - some days, I feel that I need to go there.......

Teen Movie Critic II - this is really neat because we actually get to read a teenager's perspective of the latest films.  She certainly is not a terrible writer, and if you are the sort who likes the current hits, instead of the weirdness which I discuss, this may be the site for you.  Although I must admit she is a little too much like a teenager with a superiority-complex whenever she reviews those silly movies from the old days.  And not a non-U.S. film in sight!!

Tribute to Run Lola Run - the person who controls this site is an extremely rabid fan of this German post-modern techno, or whatever, film. For God`s sake, she even overanalyzes the streetlights!!

Canadian Broadcast Standards Council - For all you Americans reading this whose experience of TV is watered-down (with the exception of HBO), this site, the official website for the Canadian television watchdog, may come as a bit of a surprise, because the cases brought to this organization involve the sorts of programs you probably could not find (even in a cut form) on any non-HBO channel.  We Canadians tolerate a lot more than you do....   If you don't believe me, understand that the movie Bubbles Galore , a graphic parody/porn film, aired on a basic cable channel.... uncut!

Week of  February 28/2000
Into the Movies -- great site, mainly because you can test your knowledge in an awesome movie quiz, with four levels of difficulty, from Very Easy (and it is) to Hard.

Real Movie Reviews - yet another film site.  The guy who owns this also runs the Movie Review Ring.  He`s been waiting for this link for weeks, not realizing I can sometimes alternate between forgetfulness and laziness!  Anyway, here it is.

Wide World of Movies -- another fine site.  I especially like the ratings system, as there are a few special movies of his which don`t even deserve the one star rating, as far as he`s concerned.  Those pictures go into the Rejected bin.

LunaRules -- another site containing capsule reviews of some films.  Part of the Chickpages, which is something I haven`t heard of before!

Webring -  contains oodles of webrings of all subjects and kinds.  They say the best way to get more traffic on your site is to join some rings ..... but, then again, do you really think that any company would tell you the contrary?????

Week of Feburary 14/2000
The Christian Critic - one reason such sites like these are interesting is not because I would necessarily agree with them, but because bring a unique perspective on such a subject.  While most of us movie critics are pretty much a safe and bland lot, others offer a different spin.  The Christian Critic is one of them.  He bases his film opinions on their spiritual content, rather than mere artistic merit.  This makes for some interesting, if extremely ideological, opinions.   Beware--- he makes no apologies for his religious viewpoint, so expect many low ratings!

Mr. Cranky - this guy, on the other hand hates everything, regardless of how immoral it might be!  His ratings go from one bomb to dynamite -- so how ever you slice it, it`s still a bad movie.   He never has good things to say about anything, which would normally not be good reading --- that`s if the writing wasn`t so hilarious!  Definitely a must-see.

Week of January 31/2000
The Three R`s:  Ryanburg`s Reel Reviews - Yet another review page.  This one includes many reviews of anime films.

Jan Chik`s Movie Reviews - Another review page, this time from someone in Toronto.

Movie Reviews: A Feminist Perspective by Holly Hertzel - a list of movie reviews with a decidedly feminist slant.  Not overtly extreme (thankfully!!) in my view, but she still manages to knock down a few beloved hip-indie films.

Week of January 24/ 2000
Alliance Atlantis - Canadian film distributor

Oxygen - a website/television network aimed at women.  The GirlsOn site which I have previously listed is now a part of this network.

Global Video - Video store chain from the U.K.

Week of January17/2000

Angelfire -free home pages.  I figured that since I`m an angelfire member now, I must give them a shameless plug.

Cat Fancy - the premier authority on our feline friends; includes links to many personal cat pages.

Kraft Dinner - the wonderful world of cheese, both literally and figuratively.  Includes many recipes involving this popular food item.

New Yorker Films
Kino International     --- two companies specializing mainly in international films

Island Edition
           - local web-based magazine, focussing mainly on the arts and the local scene.  The issue I just read included a scathing review of Myron`s, for those of you who love to hate the place.
Afternoon Delight
           - an adult-oriented company, selling the usual products (lingerie, adult toys, etc); also includes a Fantasy section where you can send in your own fantasy.  A classy, sophisticated layout.  And this company is based right here in sqeaky-clean Prince Edward Island!!  Go figure!
