I found these old photos or post cards and visiting cards rather in various little junk shops I've happened accross in my travels. I bought them because the sitter or sitters have unwittingly left us a record of the styles worn at the time the picture was taken. 
This rather severe looking Swedish lady is wearing a lovely Victorian dress with neatly folded pleats under the bustle.

I love this picture post card. It's very l'art nouveau. The woman is wearing a loose gown often attributed to artistic households. |
