June 13, 1999: There's a new movie starring Alec Su with Jimmy Lin in it. It's called the Legendary Brothers and I have watched it. Quite good, though it stretches on and on in many parts. Basically, it's about two twin brothers who had gotten seperated at birth, but are destined to kill each other. The twin brothers are very different. Jimmy Lin's character is cunning, clever and mischevious. Alec's character is the well-mannered knight in shining armor.
June 28, 1999: There were rumors that Alec Su and Jimmy Lin were having trouble getting along and disagreeing while working on the new drama "Jue Dai Shuang Jiao". But, Hou Bing Ying (I'm guessing one of the female costars) said, "They are good friends. They play cards and go bowling together, nothing like disagreeing." Perhaps Alec and Jimmy are very popular, and this time they are making an exception to cooperate with the new drama show "Jue Dai Shuang Jiao". This topic begin before production began. So, that is why the reporters were concerned with their actions when they are in Heng Zhou. Many people started to guess that they argued because of difference of opinion, but the truth is that Alec and Jimmy are really good friends. Hou Bing Ying is the intermediary person. She laughed, "In the beginning, they didn't understand each other, so they felt a little bit embarrassed, but after we arrived in China for the drama, living altogether, they knew each other better. At first, Alec and I played ball together and Jimmy was more passive, but now Jimmy will knock Alec's door to call him out to chat, play cards, or go bowling. Everyone is very happy together. The first time Hou Bing Ying met them, she was afraid that they would feel embarassed by others. When they got aquainted with each other better, they're just like brothers. One day, they got an intriguing idea. Alec, Hou Bing Ying, and Jimmy colored their face black and curled their hair, like the black people. After they told this idea to Alec's agent, Yang Zhi Xiu, he almost fainted, and tried to stop their "novel idea". From this example, we can tell that they are really good friends.
July 6, 1999: Again, here's something about Alec's new movie. Alec loves to live life, in which everday, he wakes up at 4 a.m. when his alarm clock goes off. Since he's working with the crew for his new movie, he always woke everyone up. So it's basically that the director is very worried that it will distract the other actors and actresses.
August 14, 1999: Because of Vicki, Alec and Ruby's popularity continuing the increase, many problems have continued to come up. Hongkong media reports the love triangle between the three of them. One of them concerned that Ruby and Alec had been close friends before, but due to the filming and Vicki joining in, some changes had occured in Ruby and Alec's relationship. Vicki and Alec are both energetic and mischevious, which often leads them to being together and it left shy and gentle Ruby feeling hurt.
A conference was held with a reporter asking Alec about the relationship between Vicki, Ruby and himself. Here's the interview: ALEC SU: I LIKE THEM BOTH!
Q: The rumor about you, Ruby and Vicki has been brought up in Hongkong. What are your feelings towards this?
A: Nothing really! Because we're actors, the media wants to try to find some news to attract people's interest. It's all old news. I don't want to think too much about it. Little things are not worth worrying about. I have to at least keep some distance between my private life and the media.
Q: You and Ruby have been acquainted for quite a long time already, and your relationship with her has always been very good. With three people now [Vicki], there has to be at least some changes! A: Would there? We are all very good friends! We hang out together. No changes, really.
Q: But after you had arrived in Beijing, you were constantly with Vicki, leaving Ruby neglected. It was heard that she felt really hurt! A: Hahaha! Really? No way! You'd have to ask Ruby for yourself then! I think not!
Q: Then which of the girls do you like the best?
A: Haha...both! They are both very cute.
Q: You accepted the movie 'White Cotton', acting with Shu Qi. Have you met her yet?
A: Yes. We've just seen each other.
Q: What is your impression of Shu Qi?
A: She's really beautiful! I think when you actually see her in person, she looks more like her age....on screen she looks really mature. In reality, she's much more younger.
Q: Shu Qi is really popular in Hongkong! Working with her, wouldn't you stir up a bit of a sensation? A: Ah! The media is just like that, always trying to make some news! I can't stop acting just because I'm scared of the media, can I? The film still has to go on, you still have to keep on living.
Q: There is even a rumor in Hongkong that Vicki had a temper and tantrum, asking: "You want me or you want Shu Qi?" because you wanted Shu Qi to act for that role..is this true? A: Haha! Then this would have happened before the shooting of the sequal to Huan Zhu Ge Ge! Do you think that is possible? Now, it's been planned that I would work with Shu Qi!
Q: Since you've accepted this role, will you still plan to ever work with Vicki?
A: I think it depends on whether there are any scripts that are suitable for Vicki and myself! If there is a good film script, no problem!
August 21, 1999: (This is an article written in Shanghai about the characters in Huan Zhu Ge Ge.) A vote had taken place for the characters in Huan Zhu Ge Ge. The fifth prince or Wu A Ge got a good review by the people. People were saying that he was cool, calm, charming, good looking and that Alec is a great actor. But Little Swallow on the other hand had gotten a very bad review. People said that she was stupid, a moron, coy, irritating, childish and shallow!
Also, there was a game on the Singapore Cable Vision with Alec in it. In the game, they asked him about his relationship with Vicki. As usual, he said that they're just friends. Then they asked about how her real self is like in REAL LIFE. Alec said that her character in real life is just the same in the movie. Then they asked, would Alec marry Vicki and he said no. He said: With her character like that, if he were to bring her home she would make his mom die of anger!
He said that he likes a girl to be understanding, family orientated, mature, have some knowledge, caring, gentle and well mannered. He does not bother about her age or looks.
August 25, 1999: News have it that Vicki have won the Best Actress Golden Eagle Awards and how the reporters were really mean to her for arriving at the party/conference late. Because ofthat, it made Vicki cry.
August 29, 1999: Here's a brief summary of a news article in Express Weekly #49. Here it is:
Qns:What do you mean when you say that you and Vicki "have to feel"?
Ans: Ummm... first of all, we need to have chemistry. If we don't have this chemistry with each other than it would be difficult to act properly. She's a very smart girl, her eyes are very big, when she talks to you, her mind is also working at the same time. A bit like "Little Swallow" you know?
Reporter:When Alec speaks about Vicki, his usually serious face softens and he breaks into a smile. His feelings about Vicki isn't difficult to hide. Filming three dramas ( HZGG I&II and OHHJ ) as lovers and meeting each other everyday, Alec's "approval" of Vicki can be guessed and seen by the production crews who helped out in the filming of the dramas.
Reporter: It is said that you once tried to tell your Taiwan agent that if you continued to pair up with Vicki in anymore shows acting as a couple, you were afraid that as time passes, you will find it difficult to "get out of character" (referring to the show)

Finally, Alec says that he treats Ruby like a sister and the relationship between Ruby, Vicki and him had not made him uncomfortable. He said that they would still continue to work together because relationship and work are two different things.

Maybe because she's a girl, whether there really was anything, she would still deny...
In real life, Vicki has been receiving a lot of love and attention from her family. This is because her father was 40 when her mother had her and she's his only daughter.
Vicki: Yes! My father loves me a lot. I have an older brother. My father is a traditional chinese man and he feels that sons should grow up to be useful men so he was especially strict towards my brother. Me? I have a little more freedom. Sometimes I read books or watch TV, but my mom is stricter with me. Once during meal time, I had a quarrel with my mother and I threw my chopsticks on the table and refused to eat and was slapped by her. Later..Vicki's mother and father went to buy her a cake and brought it to school for her and both mother and daughter made peace. Vicki realized that both mother and daughter could not be angry at each other for a long time and she became more understanding towards her mother.
When asked about her older brother, Vicki couldn't resist smiling...
Vicki: We're very close...He's my idol too. You know what? He's very tall, handsome, like a gentleman, and a good student. I admire him very much and I like to imitate his style. When I was young, I loved to ride his bicycle to go to the park. Later, when he had a girlfriend, he didn't bother about me to the extent that he even forgot to bring things home after school for me to eat. One day , when he wasn't home, I went to his room to check on his stuff and went to the toilet to see it. The more I saw, the more angry I got and went immediately to tell my mother about his secrets. That time, he was studying for high school and when my mother and father found out, my father scolded at him and this made him hate me for some time...
Talking about her Shanghai boyfriend, she laughed and said...
Vicki: His surname is Ye, there's nothing actually. He's just a normal guy...we met on a boating trip(not sure about this) and we get along very well.
Occassionally when you're not filming, do you go out on dates?
Vicki: Normally I have to film the whole day and there's no time to go out on dates, but when there's a break or during meal times, we would call each other...
Asked if Mr. Ye might be her future husband....
Vicki: Ummm...how would I know? I still love my family the most...I'm telling the truth!
September 28, 1999: This is another interview from Vicki in "Yes!" minibook #444:
R: Are you still studying? V:Yes
R: Actually, why did you choose to learn about movies and stuff in college? Was it your ambition since you were young to become an actress?
V: No, it's only because there were many people going to college then and I wanted to be like them. My family have always regarded education important therefore, they thought going to college was important. I was influenced by this and I'm also very interested in acting and stuff....not only about being an actress, but also in things like scripts, directing, etc...
R: You're now an actress, what do you thik is the difference in your thinking of how an actress is (before you became one) and reality (after becoming one)? Was you thinking/imagination close to reality or vice versa ?
V: Well, I don't think that it's the same, but I'm not a very imaginative person. For an actress to become famous, I think the opportunity is quite low because there are so many actress/actors and there are only a handful that the viewers are familiar with. That's why I didn't have much illusions...only thought that if I can get good scripts then I will do my best. Not being famous and thinking about things to do with being famous is quite "wu liao"...that's why I won't think so much about it. I only pay attention to what I have to do at the moment.
R: You left a year before you graduated. Do you intend to become a full time actress after graduating? Do you have any hopes in futhering your career in this line?
V: I'm a full time actress right now. I hope to do more movies ...I'm very interested in the movies and I'm studying about it too. Now that I've been accepted by television viewers, I hope that I can improve where movies are concerned.
R: Will you go/move to Taiwan to further your acting career?
V: Never thought of it. Although I'm in China...my albums, films, news, etc will be shown in Taiwan. If there are any offers of filming Taiwan series, I don't mind accepting them, but I don't think there's a need to go to Taiwan to further my career. Communications are so advanced now, I think that there's no need to live in a country just so I can further my career. If you put it this way, then my albums would not be selling that well over there.
R: You can play the piano. What level/grade did you take up to? Does it help you out being a singer?
V: I didn't take examinations, but it does help in singing...so that I don't normally sing out of tune while I'm singing. In acting, it comes in handy when the film in requires me to play the piano.
R: In the movie "Yuan" or "Deja Vu", you're in modern-day clothes while in "Huan Zhu Ge Ge", you're in ancient costume... which do you prefer?
V: I don't think that I'm suitable for ancient roles. I also will not, due to the fact that viewers like to see me in ancient roles, continue to act ancient roles and not experiment doing modern-day roles... and vice versa. I'm flexible. I think that if there's a show (in modern-day clothes) with a good script, the viewers will like it too. The viewers are not only interested in the costumes (be it modern or ancient), but also in the way you express something, in the way you "create" your character in the show. Therefore, if there is a suitable modern-day image, I believe the viewers will also like it.

October 8, 1999: The Eastweek magazine #361 had a short article that mostly criticized Zhao Wei. The reporter said that her MTV's "Magic of Love" lacked originality because it's very similar to Barbie Girl. The reporter also said that she looks fat in her MTV "Earhole" (Track #4)
October 20, 1999: This is an article about Alec in YES! magazine:
Ever since the success of HZGG, Alec has been surrounded by a lot of rumors. Since Vicki paired with him as lovers on the sliver screen, even after she admitted that she's attached, fans still concluded that they're going together in his recent visit to HK to promote activities for 'YES!' as fans kept shouting Vicki's name continuously throughout the activity.
On the subject of Alec's "same father different mother" sister in the show HZGG, Ruby, even though they were not romantically linked in the show, the media still did not "let them go" because Ruby, in terms of looks and character makes it difficult to resist her. To add to it, since both have no BF/ GF, the media still puts them together.
Recently, there is yet another rumor stating that Vivien Chen is romantically linked to him. According to reports, Vivien is of some relation or something to one of the producers of JDSJ and the producer admired Alec and so decided to bring them together.

Being a newcomer, she is able to at such a young age and with such a short time of becoming famous will feel quite happy. For me, being famous once ,given another chance, I'd prefer to be a little less famous... Opinion of her work attitude : During the filming of OHHJ , she was very happy, when there was time, we would go out and play often. During HZGG 2 there wasn't any time and she also knew this was her chance, so she worked very hard.

My cell phone rang next to my bed..... "I'm sorry, but the press conference ran a little late. We won't be at your office till about 3:15." "No problem!" I said. I got up at 2:38, and arrived at work (studio) at 3:26 just as Su You Peng and company were arriving. Just before I opened my mouth to greet him, I realized that I don't speak Mandarin. *in really, really, really BAD Mandarin "Hello, "Xiao Guai!" "Don't call me "Xiao Guai", my name is Su You Peng, call me Alec." he said in surprisingly good Cantonese. From his appearance and attitude, You Peng exudes confidence. He's not the old "Guai Guai Hu" anymore!
When Nicky Wu, Benny Chan and I was in Xiao Hu Due, we were only in our teens. Our records sold pretty well, and we were pretty popular. But we were too young then, we didn't think about furthering our career. And also with three people, there isn't much room for personal growth, but for bad news, it's better to have three people take it together.
When I took HZGG, it was just a job. I didn't think it could help me this much. Now I'm in HK, all the fans come and greet me, and the reporters flashing their cameras and asking questions. So I tell myself, I'm really popular now!
When Xiao Hu Due broke up, Benny went serve in the army, Nicky and I went to school and had a career on the side. I actually came to HK a couple of years ago with a Cantonese album. But I didn't speak Cantonese, and didn't know how to talk to the media, and no one cared about me.
Nicky Wu is like a brother to me. We grew together and talked about everything. Even when I'm so busy here in HK with filming, I still call him. Benny Chan and I are friends, he's in Taiwan working, and his career is going well. Jimmy Lin and I are not the "brother" type of friends, but we did "The Handsome Siblings" together, and we worked well. Takeshi and I were in two movies together, I don't really know him that well, but I know he's doing really well in Japan.
I know all of you want to know more about my relationship with Zhao Wei and Lin Xin Ru. To tell you guys, Xin Ru and I are really close friend, we talk to each other a lot. When we call each other on the phone, she calls me big brother and I call her little sister. There is nothing more then that. Beside talking on the phone, we also know how to use ICQ to communicate with each other.
When it comes to things other than work, my daily activities are actually the same as any other 27-yrs-old guy. I like to be free and relaxed, go dancing at night, drink a little (^_-). But recently, it is the busy time in my career, basically I don't have time to play. Most of my entertainment is going on line before bed and playing ICQ, as a kind of relaxation.
(This one is the most difficult for me so all I can do is summarize it as best as I can). This last part talks about what they usually wear to take picture. Alec likes to wear causal clothes, especially from the brand Bathing Ape. A lot of stars like to wear that brand. Alec believe that his clothes should match with the background or location of the studio set.
January 18, 2000: Here's another short article on Vicki from YES! Magazine #459:
Even though Vicki hasn't been to Hong Kong a lot times, but she has the same sickness as other HK stars; their sense of paparazzi. When asked if she is afraid of the reporters/photographers, Vicki replied in Mandarin "I'm not worried about them because I have no secrets to hide." After laughing a little she said "I'm serious!!"
Vicki came to Hong Kong for the promotion of her movie, and her cousins and friends all came along with her. She was at Jin Sha Zui, there were so many people there. She took the subway. She doesn't think the reporters followed her because her boyfriend wasn't with her.
Vicki, her cousins and friends wanted to live the life of a real Hong Kong person on their visit. They went to get their hair cut, went shopping, and took the subway. The people were very nice to her. They said "Hello, Miss Zhao, would you sign this for me?"
When asked if she wanted to move to Hong Kong, she said yes, maybe. She likes Hong Kong.
February 5, 2000: Liu Dan who starred as Princess Han Xiang in Huan Zhu Ge Ge passed away. Do you know what had happened? Well, what happened was that she and two other people were driving to a place called Shan Tou to meet with the other cast in Huan Zhu Ge Ge. Xiao Jian, Xiao Yan Zi's brother in Huan Zhu Ge Ge was in the front passenger seat. Liu Dan was in the back seat, sleeping because she was tired, and without wearing a seatbelt. When the driver was driving, he thought he saw something in the road and swerved off, hitting something. Well Liu Dan flew out of the back seat left window head first and died immediately.
February 10, 1999: General info about the two New Year's Movie that's playing in theaters right now:
"Winner Takes All", starring Alec Su, Ruby Lin, Nicolas Tse, which I took from an original post by Sam from the message board. Basically, it's about the ways and morals and ethics of cheating, swindlers, bluff, etc. It's a story of five people who join forces to defeat the "Big Swindler".
As for "The Duel", starring Vicki Zhao, Andy Lau, Ekin Cheng, Kristy Yeung, informed by Jacqueline via e-mail. The story is about Andy and Ekin's character locked in a fierce duel. Both Andy and Ekin's characters are swordsmen, but Andy is an illegitimate prince. This forbids him to be the king, instead, he is looked down upon. So he focuses on swordplay, hoping to be king in the pugilistic world. There are many problems, revenge being inter-woven in the story. Andy's greatest wish is to be able to sit on the throne, which he later fulfilled. [ The story doesn't end here,so how the story ends is up to you to watch & find out! ]

July 31, 2000: Fan Bing Bing Makes Rude Comments on Vicki (article)
"WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT ZHAO?" (Topic)
VIEWERS of the recently-ended TV drama serial, My Fair Princess, would have found it hard to believe that all is not well among two of the leads, Vicky Zhao and Fan Bing Bing (Bing Bing is Jin Suo).
But the close sisterly conferences and affectionate exchanges seen on screen are pure drama.
Fan has bad-mouthed Zhao openly, saying that the latter's ""lack of upbringing'' was the reason for her irresponsible prima donna antics.
The pretty actress disappeared mysteriously for three days during the shoot.
She was to take only a day's break from filming of the serial to attend her university graduation ceremony.
This threw the entire filming schedule into shambles.
Fan even declared: ""What's so great about her? I have more potential.''
With such bald statements, it is a toss-up which of the two beauties has less breeding.
