Film Appearances: Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002)
Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. (2003)
Origin: Built by the "Anti-Megolosaurus" department of the Japanese Defense force to combat threatening large monsters. Built using the skeleton of the original Godzilla (killed in 1954), and the DNA used to make the core DNA computer that controls the functions of the cyborg. When it first fought a new Godzilla, Godzilla’s roar triggered the instinct within Mechagodzilla, reverting it back to the primal state. Numerous suppressions were used to put it back in human control, and after fighting Godzilla, they were able to use the powerful Absolute-Zero Gun against Godzilla. Possibly due to Godzilla’s internal heat, he survived, but was greatly injured. Mechagodzilla was mostly repaired over a years time, except mainly for the Absolute-Zero Gun. Godzilla attacked again, and with the help of Mothra and her Larva offspring, they were able to incapacitate Godzilla. Mechagodzilla once again reverted to it’s natural state, and in a move to bring peace to it and the world, Mechagodzilla picked up Godzilla and flew towards the Japan trench to sink to the bottom, never to be seen again.
Fighting Power:
*****This Mechagodzilla, known as Kiryu to those who created it, may not be the most heavily armored Mechagodzilla, but it makes up for it in agility. For a large metal machine, Kiryu can be surprisingly fast, capable of laying in physical blows with tremendous power. This makes it dangerous from close range, but it equally dangerous at long range. Bristling with lasers and missiles, it can annihilate most things from a distance with an onslaught of technological terror. Although generally more effective with the advice from human pilots, Kiryu can operate independently with all the skill that a Godzilla has along with it’s array of weapons.
