The Book Of Shadows is the most personal and special tool witches own. It is basically a magickal journal where you can jot down spells you like, poems you've heard, dreams, visions and gut feelings.
Contrary to what you've probably heard from in the movies, there's no definitive Book Of Shadows- but there's millions and billions.
I saw this really cool old looking movie BOS type book complete with aged blank pages in Paperchase (I recommend checking that out if you want to spend a bit more on your BOS) and even though it was a TENNER i bought it cos it looked ace. You don't have to splash out though- buy a cheap one (make sure the pages don't fall out though- ones with ring bindery bits are best) and cover it with mystical images!!
There are no rules about what goes in your BOS. You could print out cool images from the net and stick them in to accompany you're writing. You could use it as a diary and write in it everyday, you could use it as a scrapbook. You could write and draw your dreams in it. You can do anything you want- have it neat, messy, use it to press flowers, stick flowers IN it... you get the picture and hopefully I've given you a few ideas.
Me? I've done mine EXTREMELY carefully because I love art, and I've made it look like one of those wicked magick books in the movies. Now, whenever I open it to refer to something- e.g moon phase, or a specific spell- it gives me an immediate sense of atmosphere and gets me in the right mood for doing witchy deeds!!
