Courses:
This program is for people who love the spirit and science of sound. In this program you learn to capture sound in a recording studio or on a live set, to create sound effects for movies and television shows and to bring sound to life in a concert or nightclub environment. We have a lot of knobs and wires - it's a very technical program - but we foster an artistic environment, too, and encourage you to explore and experiment.
COMP 1012 Computer - Fundamentals:This course presents the fundamentals of microcomputer hardware and software and introduces the use of a Window-based operating system, a word processing package, the Internet and a spreadsheet package. Students will operate a microcomputer, manage files, produce documents, send and retrieve electronic mail, navigate the World Wide Web and prepare a basic spreadsheet.
SAFE 1000 Introduction to WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems):This course offers the students the introduction to WHMIS, which is training required by any person employed in a Nova Scotia workplace. This is a generic, introductory course that provides basic knowledge in WHMIS for the workplace and is considered to be the basis from which more specific training can be given.
SAFE 1001 Introduction to NS OH&S Act:This course offers the students the introduction to the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act of Nova Scotia, which is required by any person employed in a Nova Scotia workplace. This is a generic, introductory course that provides basic knowledge of the Act for the students and is considered to be the basis from which more specific training can be given.
