December 2009 I'm still keeping my eye out for adult pekingese females, but I'm definitely not going to do anymore cross breeding- I just can't do it! I love the pekingese breed so much that I've been spoiled against any other breed. I will keep you posted, but I am definitely planning on getting a female so I can start having puppies around here again!
August 2009 I just couldn't do it! The idea of not giving people wonderful puppies raised in my home was killing me. I intend to come off of hiatus within the next few months, but that doesn't necessarily mean we will have puppies right away. I intend to purchase and adult female peke to bring into our family and am also looking at a female to cross breed with pekingese.
Gizmo has been neutered and retired, so he will no longer be the dad. But, I'm so excited, because one of his sons will be! One of my good friends has purchased two males from me in the past and decided not to neuter the last one. It was serendipitous because we collaborated and have decided that her guy will be the stud. He is one of Munchkin and Gizmo's offspring and his name is Horton. He is ADORABLE and has AWESOME peke features along with a super cute personality! When it comes time for Horton to step up to the plate, he will come stay in my house for a bit and then be returned home to his mommy. This will help me keep the number of dogs down and make life a little less complicated for me.
I will continue updating my site as thing progress, so stay tuned!
July 2009 I just realized I had not posted any updates in the news page and felt that I should. As you might have noticed, we are currently taking a hiatus from the puppy rearing business. I fully intend to get back into it at some point, but not sure how long it will be. All our dogs have been retired and we found Lola a new home as we decided since we weren't going to breed her, she might enjoy a life where she gets a bit more attention.
The current economy has definitely taken its toll on the puppy market, but I am mainly taking a break because I am going to grad school in the fall and will be very busy. Plus, as much as I love having puppies around, it does wear me out!
I will be getting a female bugg puppy next month and I'm really excited about this! I saw one at a dog show a couple months back and fell in love. For those unfamiliar, a bugg is a cross between a pug and a boston terrier. The puppy looks just like a brindle pug. I will post pictures of her when we acquire her.
Lastly, I want to thank all our loyal fanbase that continues to check the website and those of you that send me updates and pictures- I love it! And to anyone having problems finding a peke puppy, drop me a line and I'll see if I can help. Enjoy the summer!!!
February/March 2009 Hello, everyone! Big changes are brewing here at Piersee Pekes! As you know, Munchkin had a litter or puppies February 13. This will be her last litter. We have decided that five is a good age to retire our dogs. We want them to be able to spend the rest of their lives carefree and also, the older a dog gets, the harder it is on them to have puppies/go through surgery/ produce quality pups. On that note, Gizmo has retired! He was neutered 3.25.09. We are hoping that this makes him a little less cranky as he tends to growl at everyone periodically and he and Aidan butt heads a lot.
That leaves Lola for possible mommies and we have decided to keep one of the males from Munchkin's litter to be the next stud. He will still have Gizmo's genes and he is adorable! I will be updating the parents page soon to reflect all the changes. And for the foreseeable future we will only use Lola as a mommy. With the economy the way it is and how slowly this litter is selling, it seems better to have less litters a year. If things pick up down the road, we may purchase another female. We'll keep you posted on that.
Hope everyone is enjoying spring! I can't wait for the flowers and green grass!
December 2008/January 2009 I want to apologize for being so behind on news and updates on the website! I've been so busy with things in my personal life, I've been slacking on updates. The dogs are all still fine. Lola is part of the family and fits right in. It's funny that being DOWN to ONLY six dogs keeps it so quiet and unbusy. Pekes don't seem to take up much space and you wouldn't know there were five.
Other than waiting for signs for Munchkin being pregnant, there wasn't much exciting going on with the dogs. Interesting enough, when Munchkin is pregnant, her fur gets very thick and then once she's weaned the puppies it thins out again. I had a Siamese cat that had that issue once too.
Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and thanks to everyone who reads this and checks for updates. Have a nice day!
November 2008 No real news right now. Since we only have one current mom (Lola is still too young) and she is on a break, nothing really going on at our house with the dogs. They are keeping warm in the house and don't venture out much except for potty breaks. Munchkin, Lola and Lanie do like to go out and play sometimes, though. I think Fizzgig enjoys knowing she is retired- she has become quite lazy! Happy Holidays!
