Barros
...what can I say about him that could even begin to describe this Great person?

Barros was born poor, raised poor by Mozarabe peasants (Spanish living under Moorish rule). His father was Vicente Serrano de las Sierra Nevada, the most widely-known peasant farmer in the land. His mother was Pilar Serrano Hernadez, a midwife known far and wide for her herbal remedies...I think I would have liked her...but alas, they too were murdered in cold blood by the military during the conflict in southern Spain. Barros escaped only by hiding in the cellar.

Over the years, Barros made a name for himself much like his father did. He farmed great varieties of crops and hunted for his meat. The skins he cured and sold in the marketplace in Granada proper.

The day we met, after he rescued me from the three dirty men, I took him to my brothers where we were camping. They did not warm to him quickly, as he is gadje {non-Gypsy}, but I told them what he had done, he stayed for the evening meal and impressed mo phralas with his musical talents! Mo phralas allowed us to marry. Barros and mo phralas built us a vardo and when it was done, we left the company of mo familia...shortly after that was when we found Hakim...
