Center
Candle: This symbolizes the divine entity in its purest state of
being.
This was before the Goddess divided herself into spirit and
matter.
Left
Candle: This symbolizes the
feminine aspect of the divine or the Goddess. The left side of the alter
represents water and Earth, which are feminine.
Right
Candle: This symbolizes the
male aspect of the divine or the God. Right stands for fire and air, which
are male aspects.
Chalice:
This is can be used as an offering dish or a burner for
spells.
Athame:
This is a dual sided blade that is used to draw the circle, bring down and
focus energy. (A wand, stick, or your finger may be used
instead)
Water
and Salt: These are feminine
symbols so they go on the left side of the altar. Water symbolizes life,
emotion, and spirituality. Salt stands for Earth, creation, safety,
growth, and change.
Fire
and Air: These are masculine
symbols so they are to go on the right side of the altar. Fire stands for
energy, strength, and emotion. Air stands for thought, wisdom, and
justice.
