How can we be alone?

Someone please tell me. Are the alien life forms out there? I have always been told that there wasn't, but it doesn't make sense. We live on the 3rd planet out of 9 in our solar system. So far, we humans have examined all nine of them by satellites. Besides Earth, there have been no signs of life forms in our solar system.
