SVC is Gay and Useless

yay, yet another complaint about my beloved (sike) svc. this time it has to do with information services, the computer network, and the phone system.

pretty early in the year, my computer had gotten a small virus and everything, including instant messenger, had ended up resetting. i couldn't work instant messenger, so i called information services to see what was up and all i got was a snotty ass "well, it isn't our precious network, it must be your computer." i called to ask a question, not get bitched at. ooooh yeah you're a computer nerd, it makes you soooo cool (note the dark and sarcastic undertone). yeah it ended up being my computer because everything reset and i didn't know, but god don't get snotty when someone asks a question. and they wonder why nobody calls them if there's a problem.

my next bitch is definitely internet related. most likely, you have visited my links page. on that links page the link "those silly silly college students" will take you to pointsincase.com, a page that has funny as hell college quotes. i sent in a bunch of stupid quotes, as did my friends and then suddenly, one day we were trying to check if our quotes were posted and points in case would not load. this went on for at least a month. the only way you could access the site was to sign on america online and load the site from there. it just wouldn't work on our network. turns out that svc blocked the site. we have no clue why. i really don't give a shit if this is a private institution, it's not fair to block websites that people look at on their own personal computers. i don't think there is any harm in funny websites...if they want to block a klan website or something at promotes racism or hate, then that's fine. but to block a website that has quotes on it that make the submitters look like assholes is plain stupid. last time i checked, points in case doesn't not promote racism. news flash svc, your precious perfect catholic students do drugs, smoke, drink, and have sex just like any other school. don't try to hide it, embrace it. every other school seems to.

now we come to the phone system. when i lived in the freshman dorm, i had to bring my own phone, which was fine with me. i had a nice little white cordless and it worked fine. when i moved into the upperclass dorm, they had provided us with phones. they were these ancient, old phones similar to the ones you would see in an office. our phone worked pretty well until about a month or two ago. our wire started shorting out and they phone would completely shut off. to try to remedy the situation, my roommate kelly taped the wire to the bottom of the phone in hopes that it would keep the wire from moving around and shorting out. it worked for a little while, then started acting up a week or two ago again rendering the phone useless.

i pay $26,000 a year to go here. instead of spending all that money on the freshmen, maybe they could update the computer network so it's not completely useless, or maybe get new phones for the upperclass dorms, or let the upperclassmen bring their own phones. they should make me president of this college, i think i'd do alot better than the present administration.

quitting school and getting a job at mickey d's is becoming more and more appealing...
