Dream another day..
So, started my new job this week. Its actually going quite well! Monday was a bit dull, I was honestly quite bored. But now things have picked up & they're keeping me super busy so I'm quite a bit happier. I'm odd, I love to work. Keep me busy & I'm the happiest girl on earth. LOL
About my job.. I'm working for Jacob's Engineering Services out in the field at the Amgen facility here in Boulder. My proper title is "Project Administrator." ::ooooh:: ::aaaah:: Yea, I copy papers and enter shit into the computer. Heh. For those of you at GTHKO, I basically do what Jen used to do but *without* the phones ringing off the hook. Instead I have about 15+ people that I do secretarial type tasks for (filing, typing, copying, etc.). It gets a bit hectic, but generally easy stuff. Yea, that's what I get paid the big bucks for. ;-) It's good, I'm glad I found a nice job until school starts. :-)
So, aside from work life is going well. Its just starting to get cool over here, I hear it snowed up in the mountains yesterday. Nederland, which is maybe 25 mi. from here but 3,000 ft higher, got 6". We have our own snowfall forecasted for this weekend! Scarey!! Its not too cold right now though, was actually rather nice today. Lots of wind though! Supposedly that's normal, coming off the mountains and all. It was so intense the other night that it blew a *huge* tree limb right off one of the trees in the front yard. Landed 10 ft from the house. Very scarey!!
Been spending most of my time just hanging out with the roommates & their friends, nothing too exciting. I've also been hiking a few times & fully intend to do a lot more of it! I was going to yoga & meditation pretty regularly until I started working. Now by the time I get home after a 10 hour work day I'm so beat I have no mind for either. Going to The Trident & sitting & having a cup of coffee is about as far as I go after work. The coffee shop has proven to be a pretty good thing, I've had several interesting conversations with very interesting people over there. Waiting for a call from my new friend Devin to see if we're gonna grab a cup of jo- right now.
So yea, I'm hoping to make a trip down to FL sometime soon. If not the first weekend of October then hopefully around Christmas. Its so odd to think that I don't live there anymore & that the weather isn't going to warm up for at least another 8 months. Wierd.... I haven't seen the ocean since before I left & quite shockingly I don't miss it. I have the mountains here every time I look up & they are *beyond gorgeous.* Love it!
I do however miss all my old friends & co-workers. As much as I love Boulder its kind of hard when there aren't too many familiar faces. I think all of ya'll need to go get yurselves plane tickets to come visit! ::HugZ::

Tomorrow at 7:00 a.m....
..I start my new job! Ouch, I think the whole 7 a.m. thing is gonna get old *real* quick! Or perhaps its the going to bed at 10:00 that's gonna get old, or not getting off until 5:30... who knows. Its almost 10 now & I'm exhausted.. then again I hiked half way up Bear Mountain today so I think I'm allowed to be a bit tired.
So that was the extent of my day, I went hiking for 5 hours. Didn't make it to the top of the mtn because my knees started bothering me. Oh well, next time. So, I came home, chilled, went out & had coffee at The Trident. Packed as usual, I was kinna hoping to run into my friend Devin, but he was not there. Found a nifty book at their bookstore though showing all the different hiking trails in & around Boulder County. The Bear Canyon/Summit trail I was on today was noted to be pretty strenuous, so I don't feel quite so bad about not finishing it being that I've never hiked any more than one mile before. :-)
Tomorrow.... ack! I'm nervous! I hope they like me!

Alright, another interview this morning. I think it went rather well... not what I *want* to be doing, but hey, a jobs a job right? Besides, aside from the hours, this one sounds like fun. So, this one is with a construction/engineering firm, Jacobs Engineering. They building some boiengineering lab for Amcor(?). Regardless, they're building something! My job would basically be an office manager type position. There would be like 20-30 other office sort of people (engineers, etc.) plus over 200 construction guys and I would basically be working with all of them! Ack! Talk about hectic! Love it! Money also is pretty decent, $14-$15/hr + over time. Heh, no dressing up! That'd be nice!! This one's a whopping two miles from the house. :-) The only thing that sucks, hardcore, are the hours... its 48 hours a week, 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 3:30 on Fridays. Ouch! I'd have to be rollin my ass out of bed at like 6 a.m.!!! Double ouch! *But* that's time & a half for the additional 8 hours a week.... hehehe niiiiiiice! That would be very nice to have some cash saved up for when school starts.
Plus I was thinking, its better that I didn't get that job I liked so much, it would've sucked when I quit to go back to school. It would've been like leaving GTHKO all over again! (That totally sucked by the way!) Yea! So! I need a crappy job I hate that I'll look forward to quitting! hehehe
Again, they want someone ASAP, and I *think* the interview went well. I should be hearing soon!! In the meantime, I headed out to the mountains!

I'm supposed to hear about that job today with Finberg Law Firm! I'm dieing here! I wanted to take a ride out to the mountains today, do some exploring. But I'm not too confident as to how well my cel phone works out there & this is not one phone call I'm willing to risk missing! So now I'm stuck here, being nervous!! Its 2:46, what's up? Why haven't they called? They said they'd contact me either way... arrrrgggghhh! Should I call them? What on earth would I say? "Hi, this is Shannon, ya gonna hire me or what?" LOL this unemployed thing is sooooo old.

I should find out tomorrow whether or not I got that job with Finberg Law Firm... ::pins & needles here people:: I'm gonna be crushed if I don't get it... I hope everyone else they interviewed sucked! Heh, was that mean? Well, I hope they just liked me as much as they seemed to. Well, I think I shall ride my bike downtown & have some coffee so I can chill. ;-P

Typed this in last week, for some reason it didn't post...

6:06 pm
Great interview!! Def the sort of job I want! Interviewed with a law office right down the street, the girl who interviewed me had a nose ring & was wearing jeans & a sweatshirt. The head partner was very cool. Left DC b/c of the 'cookie-cutter-ness' of it all. (Yes! Take that!) Anyways, they are both attys, I would be assisting them. They do a variety of different types of law real estate, estate and asset protection, corporate, business, music & entertainment, IP, & employment. They seemed to like me... I def liked them! He even said he was impressed with my 'gusto for life' as well as my resume. Yay! Say your prayers and light your candles for me ladies and gentlemen. I should be finding out *real* soon.

Here's their website:

Alriiiiiiight! Just came from the temp agency, they seemed impressed. Melinda said she may have some work for me coming up for next week! Data entry ::yawn:: but hey, its money in my pocket!
*And* Finberg Law Firm has contacted me for an interview! Who-hoo! We are currently in the midst of a great phone-tag game. I am excited, I know I can do this job. Legal Assistant for a small 2 attorney firm, some office management duties. Should be decent pay, and they are seriously *maybe* a quarter mile from my house. Yay! Alright peoples, you better be wishing me luck!
