Memories

I have so many memories
Dreams, thoughts, wishes

I remember it all
It’s all so clear to me

Your lips, soft and tender
Your hands, gentle and sure

Your arms embraced me
Held me close; safe and warm

I believed in you, in us
I gave you my heart, my soul

Who would have thought?
Who would have guessed?

That those hands of yours
Could ever do such as this

Eyes wide, heart beating hard
I grasp for breath, for life

I can’t stop the flow
So much, it won’t stop

Not only tears, but blood
I feel the hate, yet still love

Selective with memories, thoughts
I’ll forget this moment, yet still regret

I’ll never stop cherishing you, loving
Despite your actions, your words

Now I settle into my grave
Kept warm and safe by memories.
