Ralphs Skate Tips

What up crew?????? This is Ralph up in da house!!!! All u mofos need 2 learn 2 skate so get up off yo lazy ass and ride that shit!!!!!

Well what r u wait'n fo?? Oh yeah, I need to teach you how!!For this, I need the help of my good friend Alice Wonder!!

First off get a good set-up like any of the followin':
Enjoi deck
Anti-hero deck
Black Label deck
Venture Super-Light Super-Low trucks
Destructo trucks
Royal trucks
and everything else is fine if its pro!!!!!!

Then after that you need to find out how u ride the bitch, goofy or regular. Goofy (the best) is when ur right foot is in the front. Regular is when ur left foot is in the front. Just ride whatever way is most comfortable for u.

Now that that is out of the way, we will start the basic tutorial(Dont worry, I'll make it as simple as possible):

OLLIE (jumping in the air and bringing the board up with you)

1. To set up, put the ball of your back foot on the tail and your front foot in the middle.
2. Now pop your backfoot so the tail hits the ground.
3. Right when the tail hits the ground, you want to slide your front foot up to the nose and jump. Practice makes perfect
4. This will level out the board so your horizontal.
5. Land straight. If you are ollieng off something, try to land with your feet on the bolts, to minimize the shock of landing.
6. Roll Away and keep practicing and you will get a nice ollie and impress people.

POP SHUV-IT (making the board spin 180 horizontal degrees underneath u)

1. I'm not sure if it helps to know 180s beforehand, but anyway this trick is not too hard so it doesn't matter.
2. It'll help at first to do this trick riding backwards (fakie).
3. Ollie, and at the same time, use your backfoot to shove (push hard and back) the board around 180.
4. When your board has rotated 180 you put your feet down.
5. Stomp the landing. Careful at first, you might slip out a couple times before you get it right.
6. When I started learning this, I shoved the board, but my body turned a bit with it, then I would turn back and land. This is ok at first, but don't worry you'll get it right with practice.

NOLLIE

1. Put your front foot on the nose of your board and your back foot in the middle of your board.
2. Pop your front foot and slide your back foot to the tail of your board.
3. Bring your knees up so you can be higher.
4. Land on all wheels at once.
5. If you are nollie-ing something, keep in mind you will have to nollie sooner so you can clear the thing without hitting your front trucks on it.
6. This trick should help you learn switch ollies.

KICKFLIP

1. Before you try this trick, make sure you are comfortable with ollies.
2. Setup like you would for an ollie, except have your front heel hang off the board. Some people like to have their front foot at a 45 angle.
3. Now start like you were gonna ollie, but when you slide your front foot up, you instead flip the board with the side of your foot, slightly in front of the front bolts .
4. Now for the landing. There is absolutely nothing to this. If you followed the steps, and are on Earth, the gravity will bring the board down. All you do is to stay over the board and you land.
5. Land and keep rollin rollin rollin away.
6. Note: keep practicing and you will see what I mean by this. The most important part is landing, even if you do a 1/2 flip. So concentrate on keeping your feet over the board.
7. Good Luck!

HEELFLIP

1. Put your feet in the ollie position except have your toes hanging over the edge of your board.
2. Pop your rear foot down and bring your front foot over the side of the nose of your board, so the board spins in the opposite way of a kickflip.
3. While the board spins I think it helps to look at your rear foot instead of your front feet.
4. Land and roll away!

VARIAL FLIP (KICKFLIP SHUV-IT)

1. The kickflip shuv-it is a combination of the kickflip and the shuv-it. Its tough but not impossible.
2. Put your front foot in the kickflip position and your back foot in the shuv-it position.
3. Now kick with your back foot as if you were going to do a shuv-it. As the board starts to rotate, kick your front foot out.
4. The board should be spinning like a shuv-it and a kickflip at the same time.
5. Stay over the board and land it.

F/S 180

1. You will need moderate speed for this trick. Speed aids the aspect of turning 180 degrees.
2. Put your feet in ollie position
3. Pop an ollie and as your front foot slides up to your nose, turn your body to your heel(or frontside).
4. It is essential to turn your body fast.
5. Land straight!

B/S 180

1. Put your feet in the ollie position except have your front foot a little closer to the tail.
2. Pop an ollie and start rotating to your toe (or back) side.
3. If you are just doing a quick 180 you have to rotate fast, but if you are 180-ing a gap, you'll need to rotate more slowly so you don't over rotate.
4. Land straight!
5. Make sure you land with all four wheels at once, not leaning on your nose or tail

HALF-CAB

1. Get comfortable with fakie ollies!
2. Approach an obstacle fakie.
3. Right before you pop your tail, start winding up.
4. Now when you pop your tail, the board will follow. Never follow your board, make it follow you!!
5. Rotate 180 degrees.
6. Land straight and roll away.

F/S 360

1. Get comfortable with frontside 180s
2. As with all tricks, don't try it off a 7 stair gap first. However it is extremely difficult to do 360s on flatground, so find a curb or small drop-off.
3. As you approach the end of the curb, set up like you were going to do a frontside 180, but bring your front foot back more.
4. Wind to the opposite direction that you want to spin, and then spin!
5. You will probably only spin 250 degrees or so, but practice and it will come to you, but don't worry, this trick isn't too hard.

NOLLIE FLIP

1. Put your feet in the nollie position except slide your back foot backwords so your heel hangs off sliightly.
2. Pop a nollie and kick your back foot down and out. The board should spin.
3. Watch the board flip, and catch it with your front foot.
4. Land with your feet over the front trucks so you don't break your deck.
5. Roll away smooth!

HALF-CAB FLIP

1. For this trick, you will need to be able to do kickflips and half-cabs comfortably.
2. Ride fakie, bend your knees, and start a fakie ollie.
3. Begin to turn backside
4. Kickflip about halfway through your backside turn, and catch your board as soon as you can
5. Turn until you have rotated 180 degrees.
6. Land and roll away!!

F/S 50-50

1. Find an obstactle you would like to grind, ie. curb, rail, ledge, table, whatever.
2. Roll up with moderate speed, the obstacle should be in front of you (frontside, duh!). If you are trying this out for the first time, go slow and try to stall (best on a curb).
3. When you get close enough, ollie, but stay parallel, keyword there, parallel. Oh yeah, make sure you can ollie on this thing.
4. Ok now hopefully both trucks are on the ledge.
5. Make sure you have the front wheels locked on.
6. Just slide off at the end of the ledge, or pop off. Roll away

NOLLIE HEELFLIP

1)Put your front foot on the nose in the position you would have it for nollies. Place your back foot just in front of the back truck bolts, with your toes hanging over the toeside of the board. (So your heel is right in the middle of the concave of the board.)
2)Begin the nollie, when have begun rising of the ground, kick your back foot heel up and off the board so the board begins to rotate a heelflip. Kick your back foot away from the board a lot so that it is free to spin the heelflip without your legs getting in the way.
3)Keep your eyes focussed on the board, it helps to have the board between your legs at all time so that it easier to land.
4)Wait until the board has spun back to grip tape side, catch the board with your feet, compress your knees to absorb the impact of this trick. Roll away satisfied about landing this trick.
