Little Boy

For the little boy with no shoes
Who sang the blues

For the little boy & his family who lived on the street
Who went all winter without any heat

For this little boy who sang a lonesome song
Which echoed very long

For this little boy who cried everynight
Not because of poverty, they had not home, no light to brighten the nights

No, this little boy cried for the rich
Who did not know of the poor

For the boy cried because they were surrounded by fake things
Treasures that were worthless in his eyes

The little boy cried for he knew
The rich & famous knew harld anything about love

For even though this little boy had no heat
Had no light, no shelter for the world which despised him

For even though the little one had no shoes
He, the boy, had love and had hope of a better future for himself and his family

The little boy cried because the rich were poor with empty things & had no one
And the poor are wealthy with love and hope he would give anything to change that

For this is why the little boy with no shoes
Sang the blues
