My Journey

I decided I should include the story of what happened to me in this website, so that people can better relate to me.

Well, to begin, my name is Molly. I am 20 years old. I was born into the Church of Latterday Saints. Both of my parents were converts to the church before I was born, and so they were the very devout members. Growing up, I had a strong relationship with God. I spoke to him in my thoughts throughout every day. However, I never had a testimony about the church, or what it taught. As I got older, my appearance changed to fit my tates. I began wearing black clothing, and looked different from most of my peers at church. The people at church decided that I needed help, because I was dressing inaproperatly, and I always questioned the docrine of the church. Things at church became very stressful as the members began to judge me. My parents moved away when I was 17, which is when I left the church.
For about a year, I didn't think much about the church. I had just pushed the years I had spent there out of my mind. I started my own family, found a new church, and things were going well. Then one night, in my new house, I and my mother inlaw were sitting in our livingroom when we heard a knock at the door. It was 7pm, and getting dark. My mother in law looked out the peep hole of the door. She said it was two men, and since we were the only two people home, she did not answer the door. I got up and looked out. It was two of the leaders from my old ward. I quickly returned to the couch and my mother inlaw and I sat there quietly waiting for them to leave. They continued to knock for quite some time. After a few minutes, one of them began to call my name. Finally, five minutes after they had come to the door, they left. Now, most people would say that it is perfectly normal for church members to visit someone they haven't seen in a long time. Here are the problems: 1. they had a book of mormon with them, which means that it is obvious that they wanted to speak with me about the church. 2. I had never given my new address to anyone in the church, which means they sought me out and found it for themselves.
A few months later I began recieving phone calls from church leaders to invite me to activities. They called both my home phone number, and our unlisted fax line. Again, I did not give them the numbers, yet they had them. I later found out that if church leaders cannot find you, that they can have your previous information sent to headquarters to have you searched for.
My husband told them to stop calling imediatly and the calls stopped soon after.
After that I began to recieve letters and invitations from a ward I'd never been to before, suposedly the ward I'd moved into. After not recieving a responce, the letters gradually stopped comming too.
At the end of my second year out of the church, I met a woman at my new church, around my age, who had also left the church. I told her of the harrassment I was going through, and she told me why she had left the church. She told me that a few years back, she had been at a christian church with a friend. The pastor was giving a serman dirrected to people who didn't believe in the LDS church. He quoted a verse from the bible, which tells that "Satan himself is turned into an angel of light", and referenced it to the great teachings of Moroni, the angel of light, who revealed the plates to Joseph Smith. My friend was so touched by the serman, that she began to search for more problems in the religion, and eventually left the church when she realized how many lies the church teaches. After she told me of that, I showed her the verse she had just told me of, because she had only heard the first part of it. I read her the two verses that follow, which state that the Ministers of Satan will roam possing as apostles of God. That they will pose as ministers of righteousness, doing it all in the name of Christ, which is even more damming. That sealed it for her. Together, we realized we needed to build up a resource and show people why the LDS church is not the one true church of God. We have gained strength and happiness together. It was the start of a journey that may never be finished. I have found information for, against, and factual about the church. Until recently, I was just trying to find information. I wasn't doing anything but searching. Then I met a guy who was questioning the church. He was very strong and level headed but wanted help. I started to talk with him and we have gained a strong friendship. Since I met him, I realized that I needed to take all of the information I have, and use it to help other people.
So thats about it, not much else to it.
