The Cima Fund

Poor Cima.. one of the sweetest little kitties around, but this is definitely not her year. Her previous owner died and left no instructions for her care. Cima was surrendered to the shelter by a neighbor, frightened and alone. Locked in a steel cage for a few weeks, she became more reserved and shy, hiding from everyone and everything. Poor Cima just did not understand why she could not go home, and where her mommy went. Things just got worse for Cima. The shelter deemed her un-adoptable, and she was slated for euthanasia, but we saw something special in her and rescued her. She was brought into foster care and started to blossom. Still fairly reserved and a little apprehensive of her new situation, she was showing signs of trust and affection towards her foster parents. Until last week. Last week everything just hit rock bottom for poor Cima. She was rushed to the vet, showing signs of weakness, she could not stand on her own. They tested her blood, took x-rays, put her on IV and tested her blood again. No one knows what's wrong with this poor little girl. All tests seem to be coming back normal.. yet she is still doing worse. We were cautioned to expect the worst.. that she was not going to make it through the night. But she surprised us all.. suffering what the vet believes was a seizure the first night there, she rallied and has finally started eating on her own. But she is still a very sick little girl. After spending 3 nights at the vet, she was finally allowed to come home, but she still needs fluids and medication, and she may need to go in for more testing. We are doing everything we can for her..showering her with love and affection, feeding her her medication. We are fervently praying that she makes it through.

The vet was sympathetic to our cause, knowing that we are a rescue organization, they gave us a discount on her vet bill... but unfortunately.. that has still left us with a very high bill. We are a not-for-profit (non-profit status pending) organization, that is solely run on the generosity of our volunteers and donations. Every penny that comes in goes directly to the kitties. Right now we desperately need donations to help pay for Cima's vet stay. Every dollar makes a difference and we will gladly send out receipts when our non profit status comes through.( We are expecting that to happen within the next few months, paperwork is being processed )

(A little about the organization. Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue is dedicated to saving cats that are slated for euthanasia from local shelters throughout the Bay Area. All of the cats we rescue are vet checked, de-flead, de-wormed, microchiped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and tested for FELV/FIV. Donations cover only a portion of these expenses and whatever other medical treatment is needed. We hold adoption fairs every weekend throughout San Francisco. Every cat that we take in becomes part of our family. They live with us, they amuse us, they find a place into our hearts. We are both happy and sad when they get adopted, happy that they have found a good home, sad that they have left us. We keep in touch with most of our adopters. All of our cats are never far from our minds and hearts and we will do anything to help any one of them, anytime.)

We have set up a pay pal account in hopes of receiving donations. By helping us defer some of our vet costs, you are allowing us to save another cat slated for euthanasia and give it the care and treatments they need. Thank you
