This report topic mainly focuses on the planet Mercury. In this report, references to the Greek/Roman mythology will be stated and planet information given.

Out of all of the nine celestial planets, Mercury is the one closest to the sun. The astrological unit of orbit from the Sun is approximately .38 (57,910,000 kilometers). The diameter is about 4,880 kilometers and the mass (in scientific notation) is 3.30e23 kg, which makes Mercury the eigth smallest planet in our solar system.

Until 1962 it was thought that Mercury's "day" was the same length as its "year" so as to keep that same face to the Sun much as the Moon does to the Earth. This theory was, however, proven wrong and replaced with the evidence of radar showing that Mercury rotates three times in two of its years.

Mercury has a thicker inner core consisting of iron than the Earth does. This could make the planet denser then the Earth itself with the exception that a force of gravity compression Mercury is often visible with binoculars or even the unaided eye, but it is always very near the Sun and difficult to see in the twilight sky. The planet also has a small magnetic field whose strength is about 1% of Earth's. Mercury has no known satellites.

Mercury is god of trade and profit, merchants and travelers, but originally of the trade in corn. In later times he was equated with the Greek Hermes. He had a temple in Rome near the Circus Maximus on the Aventine Hill which dates back to 495 BCE. This temple was connected to some kind of trade fair. His main festival, the Mercuralia, was celebrated on May 15 and on this day the merchants sprinkled their heads and their merchandise with water from his well near the Porta Capena.

Sailor Mercury represents water and intelligence. She is the one who makes up the plans for attacking the enemies. Her mother is a doctor at the local hospital and she has a crush on Urawa, who is a Psychic and knows that she is Sailor Mercury. Often online Sailor Mercury is one of the most hated although in Japan, she was the favorite. Sailor Mercury is made fun of quite often in many episodes for showing off her intelligence though she does try to hide it and not boast about it.

Many people say “She's too quiet, too passive, too shy, and has no really weird background story or mental problem, thus making her extremely one-dimensional.” Honestly, if that’s your reason for hating Sailor Mercury so much, I’d honestly say you should back down. She is quiet. I know, maybe not everyone likes the loud mouth (*coughUsagicoughMinakocough*).

Pluto and Saturn are quiet too and everyone LOVES them. If you hate Sailor Mercury because of her hair cut, honestly you’re not a good person by judging a book by its’ cover. Maybe her hair isn’t the greatest, it’s what’s on the inside the counts. She’s a loyal member of the team and the wisest one aswell. Maybe in the first season she didn’t have the most offensive powers, but you have to start somewhere and she started at the defensive end.
