(the clotting factor in blood). This disease occurs when a patient (adult or child) forms antibodies which destroy
his or her own platelets. Typically, a patient's platelet count is less than 20,000-30,000 upon diagnosis,
whereas the lower limit of the normal range is 150,000.”
Hello, my name is Vickie and the purpose of this site is to try and raise money for my grandson, Mathew. He has ITP.
He has to go in weekly for blood work and every 5 to 6 weeks for an infusion. This consists of spending 4 to 6 hours in the ICU
of the oncology department of the hospital. The medicine for the infusion costs 4 to 6 thousand dollars and that does not include
the Doctors, the Hospital or anything else. Even with insurance Mats parents still have to pay 20% of these costs. They are trying
very hard to do this on their own and needless to say they are having a hard time. They also have another child who thank goodness
is healthy and has no problems. I am so very proud of these kids but they are at the point where they have to have some financial
help or they are going to lose their home and everything. Our wonderful society can not really offer them any help because the husband
has a job. Now if my daughter were to divorce her husband she would be able to receive some aid but that is not an option that she wishes
to take. So, please reach into your hearts and open your wallets to help these children. Your generosity would be so greatly appreciated. You just
can not imagine how much your help would mean to them. Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it.
